It’s just days or a few weeks before Greg Manusky is fired as the FIRST sacrificial lamb of the 2019 Redskins season. But certainly not the last.
How long before he is gone and who replaces him?
1. Day after another Bears loss, another 30+ point game against us and no QB pressure or sacks.
2. Replacement is from within; Tomsula who at least is a fire-breathing coach who still cares.

Hopefully he gets fired soon. Not sure about promoting Tomsula, his head coaching stint was a disaster in San Francisco. Strangely enough he was way too soft on players. Maybe he deserves one more shot at a promotion, or he could be one of those guys that are better suited to be a position coach.

He was DL coach before becoming interim HC then being hired as HC, players loved him.

Just because players loved him does not mean he's a good coach.
If they promoted him to coordinator I wouldn't have a problem but he obviously wasn't cut out to run an entire team.
I think you can only move on from Manusky if the season is a lost cause. A 1-4 or 0-5 start with the current pace of giving up 30 a week would probably work. If we manage to pull it together and win a couple then you'd definitely have to wait until the 2nd half of the season. It's still too early to make any judgements.
We’ve all talked ourselves into believing this defense was something special and that it’s Manusky’s fault when they fail. It’s time to consider the lack of talent. The secondary is average at best. Every time Norman gets beat one-on-one, it’s said that a safety blew an assignment. But the fact is that Norman can’t cover anyone one-on-one, which is something you kinda sorta need a corner to do once in a while. Giants fans will tell you that for every running play Landon Collins blows up, he whiffs on an assignment. Our linebacking corps is about as bad as it gets in the NFL: Kerrigan is very good, very solid and dependable. But after that the corps is a joke. A bunch of unproven rookies and cast-off free agents. If you want to make the case that the d-line is impressive because of Payne and Allen, fine. But neither has proven to be elite at this point. So at best with have three above-average players. Hooray. There’s little reason to think that a top notch defensive coordinator could make this defense any better than average, and that’s a stretch.

The problem with waiting on Manusky is that the defense is not improving with him there. Player talent is being wasted. Rookies like Sweat aren’t being taught how to play well and help win.
Eventually the season gets away from you and players give up. I just don’t think there is any benefit to waiting. They almost fired him last year and look how the defense is doing? Pulling the offense down the tubes.

I think one point is that players leave the ‘skins and then do well elsewhere. Preston Smith just had a good game - luck or better use in a defensive scheme.
We have three #1 draft picks in our DL. Either we drafted terribly or they are being misused. We have gone from a middling defense last year to the bottom of the NFL in these first games.
Instead of hoping for Manusky to improve perhaps the best move is to try one of the other coaches with experience and see if they can turn things around . Ultimately the Redskins need to try to entice top DC talent with money, freedom (from interference by BA and Snyder) and a new HC. In the meantime we need a better coach on defense.

I bashed Preston all year but it sure seems like this schemes first priority is to hold the edge not rush the passer. The one pass rush I did see was Kerrigan 20 yards behind the QB.
The Redskins are tied for 3rd worst in sacks right now. You can't win without rushing the passer.
