I wish they'd stop with this Colt and Case nonsense. Just go all in on getting Haskins ready. Dumb the offense down, dumb the verbiage down, just get him ready to play. The kid has arm talent out the wazoo. Make it work.
Let the battle continue, but I don't want him out there the first several weeks if he is not ready versus a tough schedule and especially if silverblunt is out. I don't want to get him killed immediately.
IMO Colt is still injured and he should not be in the convo.

Tell that to Jay Gruden, whose job is on the line.
I hear what you are saying, but Jay seems to know that it is playoffs or bust for him.

Agreed.
Plus I think from a coaching stand point, you have to show your players you're doing every thing you can to win. These guys aren't doing long term politics, they're going onto the football field to win some games. Let whoever legitimately wins the QB battle in camp get the starting job. At least for the beginning of the season.

Common sense would tell you if you start a rookie QB that there may be some growing pains. I think Snyder has been around long enough to know that. Starting Keenum to maybe try and get another win or two just does nothing for me. Keenum went 6-10 last year with Denver. Who's to say he can do better here?

I think that's just abundance of caution.
Why do say that? He hasn't been cleared by trainers and doctors yet alone coaches. I agree, this is somewhat disappointing. He needs reps. It's already mid August.

You've reminded me of the the contradictory nature of the top Redskins executives. The idea that the HC's job should be on the line with a team that is clearly rebuilding is unfair to him and makes no sense.
Yes, I'm aware that the Skins executives always claim that they're in the race and that they expect to go to the playoffs but I don't believe them. Just one look at our QB, WR and ILB positions will tell you that we're in a rebuild. I don't have a problem with rebuilding but I do have a problem with doing it in a half-assed way.
Not extending Jay Gruden's contract and asking him to make the playoffs under the pressure of possibly losing his job is a disincentive to his playing the younger players to get them ready for years of legitimate future playoff runs.
Wouldn't it be nice to hear some truth from Redskins executives and to see them provide a clear-cut direction for a HC who is not a perpetual lame duck?

Agree that Gruden's job should not be on the line with a true rebuild, regardless of how long he's been there. That's why I don't wanna see Haskins out there prematurely (especially if he's not ready), if Gruden flat out feels he can't win with Colt/Case. Just don't want to see Haskins' growth/progression take a hit unnecessarily.

The FO will never go into or admit full rebuild. According to Bruce "we're close." To what? 9-7? Look what happened when you played what should have been a SB team. Brees had his family on the sidelines celebrating records. Bruce has to be the dumbest executive in pro sports. Quit trying to BS the fans. Look at your stadium on Sundays. Own that, instead of dancing around it.

Just read this great article about Kerrigan and how committed he is to maintaining his body for football.. Perhaps there is not much else Redskins can do to prevent injuries, only players themselves need to put in the work and commit to body maintenance on their own? Kerrigan gave a great example - "If you are out here working your ass off in training camp and going back to the hotel and ordering burgers and fries for dinner, you are going to struggle the next few days."
