Gruden says he “cant promise” that Josh Doctson is going to get a ton of opportunities considering the other talent on the offense. Doctson will get his chances."

Translation = Gruden is done with Doctson.

Doctson = Shawn Bradley, Gruden= Vince Carter

Maybe the Redskins get a slight benefit in his 5th-year option....all contracts are subject to the change in the market.

However, Scherff is the 3rd highest paid guard in 2019.

And if we didn't have the 5th year option Scherff? My guess is he would have been the top FA Oline OR we would have franchised him. Either one would have been less team favorable. The 5th year option on star players benefits the team immensely, while giving the player literally nothing in return.

As a Sixer fan this makes me ill. Bruce Bowen went undrafted that year! Makes you wonder how many great ones never even get the chance because of the Shawn Bradleys in the world. Anywho.....

That makes no sense, if he finally breaks out he'll earn a nice 2nd contract so why wouldn't it happen here?

How does one great year and three below average years earn him a second contract ?...you have to look at his entire body of work.

Progression. See: McCardell, Keenan.

He didn't have more than 13 catches in a season until his 5th year but he finished his career with nearly 900 receptions.

I don't think so.

My bad, I don't know why I always remember Monk at 840, but you get my point.

I'll edit my post.
