Trent Williams holding out for new deal

First off .. he does not need the wear and tear of mini camp so this may just be a excuse to miss all that.. if it’s truly a holdout over 3 million then the deal will get done.. however it’s time to look to the future and start building around Haskins IF he is to be the franchise QB..I would not break the bank or any crazy contract if he demands that .. 2019 is a huge year for the skins it’s not about the record but we are going to find out do we have a QB, RB , will anybody step up in the receiver dept? .. will gruden keep his job ? With the D looking solid and if Haskins is the real deal there finally could be light at end of a long tunnel.Exactly.

Trent doesnt need to be at these OTAs for training/reps, he knows his job. In fact this lets the team give reps to the backup tackles who need it a lot.

If it really is over money structure it with roster bonuses, they can get that done.

I tend to think it is just an offseason gambit, not a seaon ending threat.

Extending Brandon Scherff would free up the necessary cap space to give Trent an increase, and the team may still have a lower cap number than it does currently.

I'm not saying they should necessarily give Trent an increase, just making it known that contract mechanics are such that extending Scherff will increase the cap space by more than enough to pay Trent if we chose.

Trent Williams is the best Redskin over the last decade and it's not even close. He is a franchise staple and a top LT in football still today. Andrew Whitworth is 37 and is still a very good starter. Letting Trent go with roughly 4 years of very good level of play at a position so crucial is not a wise decision. When he is out of the game, it is clear as day seeing his impact.

Then explain. What happens if Trent wants more guaranteed money upfront, same with Scherff. How is the team gain more cap space? I’m no cap expert and was assuming since you have to pay 2 players a lot money and have barely any cap space.

A new deal for Scherff will lower his cap # this year significantly. He's currently on the books for $12.5, that could easily be cut that in half for this year.

Let me make something crystal clear for you and the rest of people here. I'm not about to get up in arms about some overrated, overpaid loser like Trent Williams. You can kiss his ass all you want. I'm not going to do it. I've seen this bum jump off sides, get holding calls calls in critical times, get abused mediocre pass rushers, and he's always injured. If he doesn't want to be here then we should let him go. It's bad enough he's nowhere near as good as he gets credit for. But for him to wait till the day of mandatory mini camp show me that he doesn't care about this team or the fans. I say trade this bum right now and lets go full rebuild mode.



You are correct about this being disheartening and his injuries. However you are wrong in an absolutely mind numbing way about his play. Dont let your emotions control your posts it makes you look ...well....ignorant as all hell.
