Trent Williams holding out for new deal

If it was a drug test issue, then none of this would have been an issue. The league would have announced the suspension and no one would be offering anything.

Got it.. I thought that when he returns to team this year he would have to take physical and possible test... I don’t believe he has attended any official team event since last season .. not sure how it all works . I hope he returns and it all ends well.

That's probably my problem; I don't get the same kind of news you guys do so I'm going by what's been published. :|

I would agree that if he hasn't followed any process at all then this does sound like he's trying to get out of his contract/Washington.The problem with this whole story is and always has been the why? By all accounts he and Bruce Allen were on good terms, he and Bruce Allen had worked together through other problems and he was the team leader of the team so what in this off season changed?

I have come to wonder if it is related to the CBA that is coming up. if he wants to make sure that his financial accounts are in order before the lockout or if he's trying to set a precedent for other players when they are encouraged to honor a strike or not cross a picket line.
Otherwise the whole medical staff issue just doesn't make a lot of sense.

And the timing of this. I’m guessing Trent’s issue was present long before draft day. He could have come out with it, and given the team time to adjust draft plans, and possibly make LT a priority earlier in FA.

Instead he waited until FA had dried up, the draft was over, and we were hours before training camp and team activities. The optics on this look like he purposely put the team in a bad spot.

If these statements are correct, it shows that he’s selfish and clearly doesn’t give a shit about his TEAM. All signs point to him not handling this with class.

If Washington has done ANYTHING wrong or questionable, you can bet the Players Association or NFL would have filed a case.

The draft will be full of LTs next year...

Also if it was to avoid a possible positive test result and he hasn't been able to clean himself up ny now he has more serious issues then anyone has reported.

Ppl in this thread are making good points. My question is this: is this really just about TW wanting to be on another team?

From the Redskins perspective is this just: if he won’t play for us he won’t play anywhere?

What I don’t get is how there appears to be no clarity on why we are where we are. Perhaps the team has no clue which means Williams isn’t sharing. Or he is and the issue is bad for the Skins and everyone is keeping mum. But not knowing why is making everyone guess, sheds no light on when we can expect it to end or how, and otherwise perpetuates the situation. None of which is good for anyone. Including we the fans.

Very frustrating.

No matter what was written last week about TW possibly coming back, I somehow have this suspicion that this will not be settled this year. There is something big underfoot that is hidden by either TW or BA or both. If it was small, why hasn’t it been settled either with money or a trade? Are the Redskins willing to lose their best player to make a point?

I wonder if TW told BA, “I want to be traded”. BA replied, “Play your contract”. Its like watching two teenagers play chicken with their Dad’s cars. The ending isn’t going to be pretty.

Got a gut feeling that there will be news on this tomorrow. If TW is going to come back, he'll want to be involved in the Wednesday practice when they traditionally insert the game plan for this weeks game.

Why not next Tuesday? Or the Tuesday after that? Or the Tuesday after that? Realistically, TW can do this for 8 weeks if he wants. Unless he's dying for cash, at this point, he'd be smart to wait until we finish the brutal opening 5 weeks.

Or he’s waiting until Penn sucks or gets injured. Then his leverage goes sky high
