You got a good guy ,if he can stay healthy he's a beast his coverage skills are lacking but he is a great guy.I think you over paid at 14 million a year!
Welcome to free agency, the initial signings are typically all overpaid. Nature of the beast.

He'a a box safety, (cover 3 type guy) possibly a 2/4 scheme. He lacks in coverage but is amazing against the run.

And the initial reports are inflated (total contract money vs. actual guaranteed money).

This is great since we play against Zeke and Barkley two times per year

$45 M garunteed not really too bad ... Heavily incentive laced deal I guess
For a in the box safety? It is real bad. Collins is about as good as Swearinger. I think DJ probably has better cover skills and Collins is better in the box. You just can't pay a guy like Collins that kind of money, especially in a passing league.
I do like that he wants to be here and is a huge fan of #21.

Dumb. Just plain old dumb. Not worth the money at all. If we were going to pay that amount to a safety then I would have rather paid it to Mathieu. He is probably much more of a complete player and has better open field skills to cover TE's. Our front office seriously has the biggest hard on for Bama players that I have ever seen.
At this point, I wonder if it a strategy...Nick Saban is a defensive coach...he lets guys come in and manage the offense which tends to be a run first, run second, and play action big pass play.
A defense with so many Alabama players, is the end game Saban after Jay?

The recent trend of young offensive coach...give me Saban all day over these guys.
Leave O'Connell as OC, Saban HC...and please get our aweful DC outta here. Id take that easily.
