I guess in the end I just don't see a change at DC putting us over the top. Is that really the missing piece to this entire mess?? Might as well ride it out another year and hopefully clean house next year.

I completely disagree with you. There are better options out there right now for d coordinator.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Sure there are better options, but how much sense does it make to make yet another change only to have to entirely clean house next year if we have another disappointing season? Do you trust Gruden to finally get the hire right?

I see your point.
I think cleaning house would be perfect to do this year. Not next year.
There are good coaches and Front office candidates available.
Next year may not be the case. Plus the team has talent and that will attract good candidates.

I think both Gruden and Allen have all the incentive in the world to make sure they have the right defensive coordinator in place. Gruden because he's going into the second to last year of his contract meaning this year is the make or break, he will either be extended or fired. So he needs good results immediately. He will want to ensure himself the best chance to succeed so I think he will look to upgrade anywhere he can.

That said, do I trust that he'll make the right choice, no I don't. We've seen him stick to familiar too often. And I'm not even certain he has actual final say on his staff. Remember when Snyder hired Zorn to be the OC before a HC was in place? Only did he upgrade him to HC when other options failed. I think either he or Allen is having a big say in coordinator hires. All the more reason this go round will fail too.

But Gruden will certainly go to them and ask for a replacement.

Manusky just isn't cutting it. Period. We've dealt with mediocrity on our coaching staff for years. It's time for a change. Period. Both sides of the ball, entire culture change, etc. It's time and we've seen what the result has been. Want empty seats? Keep the status quo. Want a fleeting fan base? Keep the status quo. There is not a single positive in my mind to keeping the status quo, at all.

I agree. Even if we we felt manusky was doing ok, there are several fired head coaches who out there who will probably not be head coaches this year and who would be clear upgrades. Marvin Lewis. Gregg Williams. Todd Bowles. All upgrades. It would be irresponsible NOT to hire one of them if they were willing to come here as DC.
