If we are looking at the upcoming draft, forget Drew Lock and focus upon Dewayne Haskins from Ohio State. Haskins truly has a golden arm. Smooth accurate thower and excellent character both on and off the field. I do not know if Haskins will still be on the board when the Skins get to announce their pick. But if he is there, Haskins will solve a problem that has existed in DC for 25 years. He is the real deal.
The Giants pick before us again and this time they might draft a QB....the Redskins need a big play WR...a quarterback while could be a pressing need can wait until the 2nd round...Daniel Jones( Duke) or Brett Rypien( Boise St. & Mark's nephew) can also be a steal in the 2nd or 3rd round....
I'm not opposed to drafting Lock or Haskins if either of them are available when we pick in the 1st round....but LG or WR is more pressing....and a quality QB can be drafted afterwards....

Of course the last time we went for a big play receiver we got ------Doctson. But maybe that is why we still need one. I see your point. WR is a position of need. But so is QB.

Scot McCloughan thought Doctson was the best player available when we picked.....it's safe to say he missed on Doctson....I would rather had Vernon Butler or Artie Burns....
Preston will be too expensive for what he is, a streaky edge player without burst.

To expensive?
Dude won't be a starter next year. That's a damn near guarantee but I worry Gruden has a personal vendetta against me and might resign him.

Stop it, Smith is a legit starter

4 sacks in 15 games for an edge rusher is brutal.
Tied for 92 in the league and hasn't missed any playing time.
He isn't better than Kerrigan, Ionnidis, Payne, or Allen.
We need increased pressure so we need to look at his roster spot and get someone who can contribute.

From what’s likely from beat reporters and insiders...manusky will be gone. I think that’s driven a bit with who might be available.
I think my top 3 d coordinators
1 Rex Ryan
2 Greg Williams
3. Todd Bowles

My preference would be to move on from Preston. I think the decision should be left up to the new defensive coordinator.

He is a free agent so it will depend on how much money he wants, given our cap position I would hazard a guess at too much

Stop getting my hopes up for a new d-coordinator. I haven't seen anything to indicate they are going to make any changes this offseason, including Bruce.
I'd love G.Will back btw but Cleveland is really going to make a tough decision this offseason, G.Will has them playing better than any coach in their history. If I'm Cleveland I stick with him, he's more than earned it.
I'd also take Rex but isn't he out of the game since the Jets firing? He might be enjoying his retirement/his wife's toes too much to get back in the game.
And finally, since all indications point to Gruden coming back, I think he should hire another legit o-coordinator. I don't think he's smart enough to handle playcalling and HC responsibilities.
