Chico23231 02-05-2019, 08:39 AM Really Chico? As one man to another, what gives you the right to decide what women do with their bodies? I say this not even mentioning that literally most of 3rd trimester abortions are due to complications where the mother or baby's life is at risk. Do you really think women want to deal with a pregnancy for 6+ months only to end it as the baby is due? Get a grip.
yes really. no lie. late trimester should have the most extreme restrictions and if no complications found, both the doctor and the woman in the case the baby would be killed would face charges of murder.
Chico23231 02-05-2019, 08:54 AM Do you understand what a marginal tax is? It's not 70% of your income. It's 70% of your income after you reach the 10 million threshold in a single year, and even then that first 10 million isn't touched at 70%. It's also a big reason why America prospered after WW2.
Yes I remember economics talking how the prominent driving force behind the post WW2 boom was the marginal tax. :laughing2
The marginal tax your proposing does not equal tax revenue(that's the yuge problem)...and the biggest question simply is "why?" Tell me why you want to raise this tax? Are you using the money to pay down debt...the fair share? That's reasonable...or are you looking spend it? The absolute highest figures Ive seen of source able revenue have been insignificant...and those figures are without the obvious move to tax shelters which will happen. The highest figures will take a willingness of folks to submit to the tax....this will not happen. There are much better ways to tax the extreme wealthy.
I know you and AOC are trying to lay the ground work for the unicorn farms...the marginal tax simply does not cover it...not even close. After all the legislation is passed for your fantasy land and the realization is the Wealthy tax increase wont come close to paying for it...who do you tax next? The largest tax base always picks up the tab
sdskinsfan2001 02-05-2019, 10:07 AM I have been a proponent of a "Flat Tax"for a while ".
Stop the fucking presses!!! Giantone and me agreed on something. I just saw a whole army of pigs streak across the skies.

Yes, I know what a marginal tax is, and I don't agree with it. Should have been more clear in my response. But I don't agree with government getting 70% of any amount over X number of dollars, even if someone is making billions a year. Its our money not the governments. Government should try spending less. Always take take take, spend spend spend. And they turn voters against each other to do it. Our tax code now is a joke.
Always amazes me how defensive people get when it comes to the rich, like our turn to join the 1% is just around the corner

CRedskinsRule 02-05-2019, 10:59 AM I think taxes should be based on living standards.
If a minimum for a safe living income is $30K per year then people making : 2 years or less would not pay taxes. (up to 60K = 0 tax)
2 to 4 years would pay 1/2 year tax (60-120K = 15k tax)
4-6 years to years would pay 1 year equivalent
6-8 yrs - 2yrs
8-10yrs - 3
over 10yrs add one per every 2 years. over 100 one for 1 up to 75 yearvalues
No more calculations/deductions, and the cost of living is set by an independent group that uses set cost markers - like food, oil rent, and healthcare. Additional markers for regional differences so it is fair across all spectrums of the US. I would do everything possible to insulate that group from political pressure
The point of making it valued by the cost of living is it keeps income tax relative to what someone really needs to survive. Hard to bitch about a 70yearvalue tax rate when the fact is you are still keeping enough per year to live 30 years on what the cost of living is.
I also would do away with filing type. Every person would be subject to the same rates. If a husband earns 4x and a wife earns 3x they would each be taxed accordingly

Amazes me how offensive people are about taking other people's money. That goes both ways.
Its not about being defensive of rich people, its about sticking to principles you think are right. I imagine it's the same for you. We just have different principles on this matter.

SALT which benefits the top earners...Cuomo crying about it, how it hurts the wealthy.
Cuomo quit crying, lower your ridiculous state taxes which AFFECT everyone and cut your insane, overbearing state government which burden everyone in the state.
So its funny now how the Democrats want an uncapped SALT to benefit the Rich and extremely well-off.
“This is the flip side," Cuomo said. "Tax the rich, tax the rich, tax the rich. The rich leave, and now what do you do?”
lol...no shit...AOC says tax them more...

Are you implying lower and middle class America would pick up the tab on a marginal tax rate of 70% over 10 million dollars?
Also, the 1% is already hiding their taxable income in tax shelters, how much more do you think they'd have to give that they haven't given already?
And finally, thanks for sticking up for the rich Chico, who knows what they'd do if they didn't have you to defend them.
I'm not saying a marginal tax rate is the solution to all of our problems. I am saying it would go a long way in helping fund the government which keeps borrowing against my social security that I won't be able to depend on in 30 years when I retire.

Im implying if massive legislation was passed which ended major economic systems such as healthcare, higher education, etc with the promise the rich/wealth tax revenue will cover the cost along with cost cutting savings measure of the move...if we move these under a socialist style government control entity (which lets be honest, this is the end game)...when the numbers don't add up, which they don't...the brunt of the financial pain will be brought down on the middle class. AOC and K Harris are selling you fantasy land, unicorns, etc. If you want an honest liberal view...see what Bloomberg and Schultz have said about it.
You want to hit the wealthy...ill have to look again, but I think its capital gains and treatment of other income (investment maybe, to treat as regular income)...looking at larger thresholds with a more substantial tax once they are met.
The shelters, contract deferments, folks leaving...the super wealthy will avoid the taxes your referring too.
