I don’t think anyone including myself has said it’s a sure thing he’s coming back. Just like that would be dumb to say it’s also dumb to speculate that his career is over.
I posted this before, worth sharing again

I am Celtics fan, I will tell you right now Gordon Hayward is shell of his former self. He is 28 and had nearly entire calendar year to heal and rehab.

Whether AS comes back or not, his cap hit is very heavy and it means that the team won't be able to hire anything but a cheap veteran replacement.
I also wonder if big ticket players like Norman might be let go due to the ripple effect of this cap tsunami.
I think this forces the Redskins to at least consider drafting a QB in the first round, in the bid to get a franchise QB

I just read tonight that Alex Smith is still in the hospital from his leg surgery. I guess he has a pretty serious infection.

Alex won't be a guy that WOW's us and he probably won't have any 400 yard pass games but he will WIN games for us. That is all I care about.
So far so good.
EDIT: Then he will break his leg and end his career possibly...

I read that as well. I was wondering if anyone was going to mention it. Word is this will delay his recovery.

This is a big plus for sure. Smith should do the right thing and post june 1st announce retirement.
Its sucks for him, but he is done.
