The Vikings are stupid if that amount of money is accurate. He'll never ever live up to that contract. The smart thing to do is resign Keenum and try and keep that chemistry they had going. The next best thing in free agency rarely works. History proves that.

That review of Cousins that CRed posted is the best thing I've ever read on him. It summarizes him absolutely perfectly, breaking down all the reasons why he's good, and breaking down all the reasons why he doesn't elevate the team around him to greater things.
What an excellent piece. It leaves the reader pondering the ultimate question: if you're the Vikings, is it worth it to make him the highest paid player in the NFL, given the short supply of quality quarterbacks?
Wonderfully written and well thought out. Thanks CRed for posting that.

I think from the Vikings' stand point, it is worth it if you feel this will get you over the playoffs hump.
And if you are in a win-now mode, you don't care what happens 3 or 4 years down the road when you cannot afford an elite defense, your other skills players become expensive, and you have an above average QB that cannot carry the team on his back.
But if this means potentially winning it all within the next yer or two, then I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

So how isn’t all this noise considered tampering?? Clearly teams and players are talking
Yeah It's called the NFL gives zero fucks about the skins. If that was the steelers u would see an uproar

I agree. Like I said earlier, if you’re the Vikings you push all your chips to the middle of the table and go for it.
You don’t put the next couple years of golden opportunities in the hands of a discounted journeyman. Pay Kirk and take your best shot.

A shame that April Fools is 3 1/2 weeks away. a 3 pm Franchise Tag announcement would have rocked the NFL!

I agree and I probably would if I were Minnesota. But is it enough?
Is Kirk that guy? If he goes to Minnesota we'll all get to find out. If he goes to the Jets, we won't. lol

I want him to go to Minnesota and fail miserably.
