@MySportsUpdate

Important note from @PSchrags this morning: Kirk Cousins will be looking for a mostly-guaranteed, short-term contract from a team (3-4 year deal) so he’ll be able to “double dip” and hit the market again as the price on QBs continues to go up.

That interview with The Fan a couple years ago told me all that was needed to say about Kirk. When he talked about how taking less wouldn't be fair to future QBs it told me he only cared about the money. Sure winning is nice, but bottom line it was about the money. To each his own really, but he needs to put down that Jesus facade bullshit if he's going to go this route.

well Schrag is pretty good so I believe the source. It also shows why the skins said NO.

I suggest a modification to the thread title. It should read:"Redskins don't plan on third straight franchise tag for Kirk Cousins after signing Alex Smith to huge contract because franchising Cousins at this point would be absurdly risky and why are we bothering with this deep in the offseason doldrums click bait, anyhow?"

Yeah, but it's the offseason so I'll click on anything about the Redskins.

What team would give him a 3-4 year deal knowing(!!) that he will go the Franchise Tag route after that. I think any team would be crazy to sign their qb to that type of deal. Maybe a 4 year with a team option for the 5th. But 4 years basically guaranteed is nearly franchise suicide.

I can't see Elway agreeing to that type of arrangement. It really looks like the Jets will be the team, even if Minnesota is shooting itself in the foot with all their qb's.

Kirk is basically pulling a Darelle Revis and trying to get as many deals as possible. Lucky for him, you have desperate teams like the Jets who will give him anything he wants.

And the Jets will be a good situation for him, because he'll be able to pad his stats to keep his market value up and any L's could be blamed on the organization, just like it happened here.

Unless we win the Super Bowl, three years from now we'll have a pesky faction on here second guessing every move the Skins made with Kirk, making the case that if we stuck with him we woulda had a chance. And they'll ignore the fact that Kirk was not going to sign with us long term.

Some people just like to live in the past. I'm ready to march forward with Smith.

we're moving on to kansas city

Well, when you can control the market, you can do as you please. That said, I'd love to see that shit backfire on him and he have a couple down years and his value plummet. I"m just glad the drama with KC is out of here. He didn't want to be here so fuck him. We're onto Alex Smith.

Alex Smith is already my favorite Skins player. Fuck Kirk and his agent, glad they're gone.
