Redskins trade for Alex Smith

Hills not a bad option, but I almost prefer the draft. There's a lot of midrange talent every year (although we've whiffed on a few) and it's clearly a young fresh and healthy mans position.

WR will be tricky for sure. I don't think there's a slam dunk number 1 available in FA or draft.

True.

But I just feel like we need playmakers on defense (NT/DT, CB) and I'm not really wowed by anybody available, so I'd rather keep as many picks as possible for this side of the ball.

And on offense we can't afford average guys or gambles, so if there are guys they really like at WR and RB, I want them to spend what it takes to get them.

A healthy Jordan Reed would go a long way. And then some speed on the outside.

Now we both know his ass ain't staying healthy but of course we all would love to see it. Smith loves TE's expect Davis and Sprinkle to catch a lot of balls

I hope for it too, but i just think that some guys are glass boned and no matter what kind of offseason, training they do, their bodies will just never be up to par on game day.

I know he is only 27 but with all of his various injuries realistically his body is probably a lot closer to being 37. When healthy the guy is for sure a difference maker, but he has averaged like 10 games over five seasons. Does anyone know where we are on him contract wise? Can the skins move on from him without a huge hit after this year if he has another injury plagued season?

Yeah we can escape. In 2019 he will count 10M against the cap, but if we cut him next March he would only count 3.5M in dead money, meaning we would save 6.5M in cap space. Say what you want about Bruce, he has earned it in many ways, but if he and Schaffer are good for anything it's making sure contracts are structured in such a way that we can escape.

All that said I think a bounce back season is in store. He is fragile for sure, but last year was abnormal even for him. Usually he misses 2 - 4 games. Last year missed 10.

Even if he gets back to playing just 12 games it's a big impact on our offense.

Chris Thompson too. Between him and Reed, safeties have to be mindful because linebackers aren't fast enough for either of them. Gruden can put safeties in a bind with either player in a myriad of ways, it loosens the coverage against the WRs. If we manage to add that one deep threat then everything gets easier for everyone, including Doctson.

If we add a legit receiver, we get solid play from someone at LG, and we stay healthy i think we'll have a top 10 offense. Add a stud RB and it could be top 5.

Now that's a few things that need to go right but its not out of the realm of possibilities.

I think our redzone offense is greatly upgraded with AS, if we can get a good RB, we should be punching in a lot more 6's.
