Jay will have to formulate game plans for a far more conservative QB than KC. I hope he can do that but have reservations.
I will wait to make a prediction on playoff wins until I see the team being built. As it stands now I would say we won't win more but we can't win less than we did with KC.
A more conservative quarterback? We replaced a quarterback who often seemed reluctant to throw past the line of scrimmage with a quarterback who led the league in downfield passing.
I do agree we can't win less than we did with KC.

Every analyst I have listened to has said that he has the tendency to hold the ball and take a sack instead of forcing a throw that might lead to a turnover and that Gruden will have to adjust to a more conservative QB. Last year was a career year for AS are you going to base who is on that one year or his entire body of work? If we get last years AS great.

Even if that analysis is correct, it just makes him Kirk Cousins.

I haven't posted in years....so its nice to be back.
I don't have a problem with Alex Smith the QB. I'm sure he will be as productive as Kirk (or Kurt depending on who is talking). My issue is this - $71 millions guaranteed to a guy that is 34 years old. this is so the OLD redskins way of over paying for aging guys. And also giving up a promising young corner (remember Champ?). And absolutely no attempt to at least dip a toe in the negotiating pool with Kirk. I am guessing $70+ million guaranteed last year would have gotten close or at least given Kirk the feeling that this may be the right place to be. But as usual, Bruce Allen craps on this because he is out to show he is the man in charge.

Someone mentioned it earlier and I think it's a very good point, no one on the team is crying over the fact that Kirk is leaving. All of his teammates have realized for a long time that he did not want to be a Redskin.
At some level that has to affect the way, you play the game. It's one thing to be playing the game for the sole reason that I want to be playing the game somewhere else down the road, as opposed to I'm all in completely, this is my team and my teammates and I'm playing to win with everything I have, every single game, every single play.
I saw a conservative Kirk sometimes.
It's like if you have a job and you are just a regular employee and you see someone in "upper management" that is making way more money then you are, and all they do all day is complain about being there. And even if they don't outwardly complain you know they hate being there. That would get old quick.
I'm glad Kirk is leaving for Kirk's sake and for the team sake.

I rarely post but I wanted to offer a possible scenario that I haven't seen posted yet. We have the 13th pick in the draft and Alex Smith is now off the market that pick could be huge. I hated to see Fuller leave too, but what if we trade back an added a 2nd round pick or more. Someone will miss out on a QB in FA and need to draft a QB. Don't look at the trade (it's over with there's no use in crying about it now) look the ripple effect of the trade.
Example what if they trade back and get an additional 2nd & 4th round pick for the 13th pick (or possibly more) while being able to resign a stud like Zach Brown. Is that really that bad? Fuller will be missed for sure but it's not the end of the world. The extra pick or picks could help boost the holes in the roster. I feel we could come out okay under the circumstances given honestly, if the FO makes these type of moves in the future. You never know what might happen, but I feel good about having the 13th pick as potential trade bait. No one saw Jonathan Allen being there last year....but what if Mayfield or Josh Allen is there this year?
Great post.
I agree about there being some really strong talent there at 13. There will be a run of QB's in the top 10, but I feel like Mayfield with his arrest, emotional issues, size concerns and lack of experience in a pro offense like ours, he will drop to us at 13.
Also combined with there being several QB desperate teams that might want or need to give up some value for 13th pick to get a QB.

are you trolling? because if he couldnt get it done in KC, with all of that offensive fire power they had, it aint happening here
No I just feel that confident in his abilities as he's gotten older and wiser, dude is smart on the field. Did you or I even think the Eagles would be a SB contender 2 years ago? No chance in hell. Now look they are in the game.
Also for the love of god it's gotta be our time again eventually right??

I still can't believe the poll is 50-50 pretty much, Was Fuller that great to you guys that we couldn't trade him for a top 12 QB? Yes he is a good corner but if he was that great why wouldn't he play outside any? He doesn't have the speed that is why, so he's nothing more than a Nickle or at best a solid #2. Not a big loss IMO
