skinsfaninok 02-01-2018, 10:42 AM The reason we keep getting fuck is simple to see. Andy Reid and his front office went out and got a QB they loved last year. They didn't need to, but they have a plan.
Skins consistently don't have a plan...they are reactive and therefore get their ass handed to them routinely. This Alex Smith trade, folks this is nothing new. Fuller in the trade is again epically poor.
Now look at the Facts..Cousins has gotten better in a system that seemed to fit him better as time went on. Look at the injuries in the oline, ZERO at WR, ZERO RUNNING GAME, best TE out.... his passing yards, accuracy, yards per attempt, etc..........he had a great season.
Alex Smith had the NFL rushing leader, a stable oline, much better receiving core and a top 3 receiving TE...had his best year
We just gave a 33 year old QB 71 million guaranteed on a 4 year extension and folks are fucking telling me nothing to worry about with the history of Danny and Bruce?
GTFO
The difference is we have Doug Williams now, he's doing more than people think. Jay also now has a QB that can scramble and doesn't turn the ball over.
Kirk had 13 ints and 13 fumbles this yr. Smith had 6total. Huge difference.
Yeah Alex wont have many 350 yards games but he will still have 26 tds next yr because hes great in the RZ.
sandtrapjack 02-01-2018, 10:50 AM 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Had we offered KC this contract 2 years most of us would have gone ballistic. And we should have, KC was nowhere near earning this kind of contract 2 years ago.
Not sure I agree.
Just saying, Smith got guaranteed money from Washington at around 71 million over 4 years. What makes more sense? 71 million guaranteed (in 2015) for a 20-something who has surpassed 4,000 yards each season as a starter? Or 71 million guaranteed for a 34 year old starter who has surpassed 4,000 yards only once in 12 years?
Cousins is your franchise leader in passing yards in a single season. If you check the passing leaders by year for the Redskins history, you will see that 3 of the top 5 seasons (1,2 and 4) are held by Cousins.
How does the team NOT extend this guy?

Kirk was the best QB we have had since Rypien hell maybe even Joe but he didn't want to stay here. Glad its over

Kirk deserved better then this franchise, class act hope he is the next TB.
So funny to think back to the RG3 draft and think we had to potential franchise QB's and now look at us.
This trade is just another chapter in the book of how not to run a team.
I will say the off season has just begun, got wait to see how it all folds out. But if history is indicator of future performance my hopes are low.

Seems like some people just want to stomp their feet and whine. Let us know when you want to move up to the big boy table and talk about moving on.

1) He didn't ever even enter into real negotiations including the first year. People in hindsight are saying we should have paid him, but if we had signed him to a deal he might have signed, and we had the years we had, the contract would have been considered a mistake.
2) He was asking more at each point than he was worth. See DeMarcus Murray as an example of a team letting a team leader go when the contract demands are too high.
3) He simply didn't want to be here. No team can waive a wand and extend a player that isn't negotiating.
It's not rocket science.

They didn't extend him because the owner and his butt buddy didn't draft him. He was better than RG3 and they basically never embraced Cousins. That's why Cousins never got a LTD. It was all about egos, pride and hurt feelings.
