skinsfaninok 01-31-2018, 04:06 PM I know people said for the longest time that KC's Twitter feed didnt mean anything (looking at S10 here) but look at Alex Smith's:

He's photoshopped himself (although kinda looks like KC) and his main image is the Skins offense on the sideline.
KC's has said "Business Inquiries: Luke Munson luke@lwsports.net"

There is a huge difference.
Kirk wanted out all along, everyone knew that
Smith looks good in a skins jersey, and 11 is a good number for us
SCRedskinsFan 01-31-2018, 04:13 PM Cousins is gonna make a killing in free agency now.
My guess is highest paid player in the NFL at a 27 million per year clip. That's insane
So you’re hammering the FO for signing someone else, who, by all fair accounts should perform as well as KC for a lot less $$$, at least for the next 2-3 years. I know, i like Fuller too, but he’s just not worth the same as a good starting QB.
The die was cast 2 years ago when we told KC to “prove it.” And not many here were clamoring that we should give KC a long term deal at that point, perhaps you were. After that, the FO had zero options, assuming you wanted KC to Continue to play for us. There was absolutely no point at which KC was agreeing to a long term offer. None.
So stop hammering the FO and the Redskins about this and give Kirk credit for playing things just right in a way no one had done before. And Kirk got lucky that we protected him well for both those seasons. Had he gotten hurt this story would have ended differently.
SCRedskinsFan 01-31-2018, 04:17 PM I know I may be a smith critic but when you look at that trade you guys will hopefully score big for cousins. I would take cousins in a minute over smith but I understand his contract demands putting you off. We had a similar situation with houston. Waited too long to extend him now he makes almost brady money at outside lb. Knowing what a qb driven league it is I feel for skins fans such a tough spot no right answer. Sign cousins you payed too much let him walk and a potential if not already franchise qb leaves.
Well “Brady money” is less than $10M a year, since he gives the Patriots a huge hometown discount. Nice to have a wife that makes the big money...
Maybe you meant “Stafford money.” Lol

"Washington is very fortunate to have a quarterback in Alex Smith. My year with him was one of my favorite years of football," Foles said. "Just being there in Kansas City, getting to work with him, seeing a guy that for some reason people critique all the time, I mean, the guy's a winner. I mean, look at him. Look at what he did this year and he just keeps coming. He keeps getting better."
That is a huge key, Smith is smart and can teach a young guy the ropes as well.
Also dude will be hungry to prove all the doubters wrong over the years.

He's so good that they drafted his replacement in KC and SF and both teams kicked him aside. Foles is going to say all the right things.
I'll say one more thing regarding Colt. Back in May I went out to Redskin Park for an OTA practice. I have a business relationship w/ 980. Several people were invited and we could stand right next to the field. The players were just a few feet away. That day you COULD NOT tell the difference between Kirk and Colt. There were no pads of course but both guys really threw the ball well. Sudfeld struggled as his passes wobbled in the wind. But Colt ran the 2nd team and made nice passes into the wind down the field. He took more chances that day with the ball while Kirk played it safe for the most part. Obviously it's an OTA practice, but he's better than a lot of you think. He's been in the offense for several years and it would not surprise me if he outplays Smith during pre season. I'll leave it at that...

Colt is a solid QB he's not a starter or else Jay would have rolled with him, Smith will be fine man don't overreact..

This is a fallacy. How many times has a good player been let go because a new coaching/regime change planted a new plan with a different scheme or style or the new leadership just wanting to go get “their guy” instead of the previous leadership’s choice. - Harbaugh and San Fran
How many times has a team let an older player go because of pressure to play their newly drafted pride and joy? - Maholmes and Kansas City
sdskinsfan2001 01-31-2018, 05:06 PM Alex Smith has got better each year. He is way better than he was on the 49ers and had great season last year. I like all that extra cap space. Should be able to bring back Brown and get another good player or 2 just with money saved on Smith's hit this year vs. What Cousins' will likely be.
