Right, it's gotta be that, and not because the Browns are several years away from contending and it makes much better sense to bring in a rookie qb with the plural first rounders they have and save money while they develop him.Apparently they were not interested in trading for him last year either.

Good thing Joe Thomas the GM has spoken lol
The only way he would even consider going there is if they offered him insane moneyHe said he hasn't heard it direct from the front office. Just a sense he is getting. I think they draft Mayfield.

Joe Thomas needs to shut his mouth and let the GM and staff do the work, now a days these players talk to damn much. Yeah I get that he wants a QB and all that but he didn't have to stay in CLE, He took the $ over winning because multiple teams would have wanted him, but he wanted the 10M this yr which will make him the highest paid Lineman.

Dang it, we're still three weeks away from free agency! I can't take it anymore! Someone sign Kirk Cousins so we can get started on Alex Smith and how "jacked" he is about playing for the Redskins!

The Browns attempted to trade significant assets for AJ McCarron last year at the trading deadline, but they filed the paperwork a few minutes after the deadline, so it didn't go through (lol).
But now that McCarron is an unrestricted free agent, it seems logical that they'd be in the mix for him. I mean it's not to say they didn't try to trade for other QBs at the deadline. So I wouldn't think it a certainty that they'll target McCarron as their number one target. But you have to figure he's a thought. Hue Jackson saw enough of him in Cinci, he should have a feel for what he's getting.

There is an interview where he talks about his loyalty to the Browns.

And the fact that now, they can sign him out right and not have to worry about trading for him. Might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

AJ is unproven and when he played he didn't exactly light it up but I would sign him to compete with Kizer who I believe hasn't had a fair shot to begin with. The browns dont need a QB taking 30m of the cap from them, they need to load up the roster overall first

Ask me whether I care what you would do.
If they liked McCarron enough before to trade two significant picks, they're sure to like him now that all they have to do is spend money.
