FrenchSkin 05-11-2018, 06:38 PM And it appears that Sean Welsh (UDFA) out of Iowa just decided to retire: https://www.hogshaven.com/2018/5/11/17346456/udfa-g-c-sean-welsh-retires-leaves-redskins
Yeah, this guy who at least some folks thought might be a sleeper: https://www.landof10.com/iowa/iowa-football-sean-welsh-nfl-draft-2018-washington-redskins
So neither AK or Welch were locks to start or even make the team, but seeing a depleted group of contenders for our weakest O-line position isn't great.
F that! I expected quite a lot out of him, at least hope was allowed with him...
Gosh why does it always fall on us?! Cravens, now him? Talk about "football players" huh! (Ok Cravens was a 2nd round pick and he's an UDFA, but still, he was seen as a potential steal).
I was a fan of him already, promising guy overcoming depression and being open about it, would have been a great story...

Pat Kirwan was really high on this kid. That's really a shame, hopefully he will have a good life, and not battle the demon of depression...
Skins likely will make some moves here.

Good read.
Good points about having to deal with the salary cap, and not spending too much on certain positions, and LG not being the most important position on the O-line.
But he does seem to be wearing rose colored glasses when he says TJ Clemmings and Tyler Catalina could respectively "thrive" and "take a big step forward"... With all due respect to them, those guys simply aren't talented enough!

Haha I hear you, of course it's only a back up and an UDFA.
But this happening on arguably our weakest position on offense, after a season during which injuries on the OL kept this team from performing to its full potential, makes me wanna see the FO be a little more pro-active in finding a solution at LG.
Now, can we win games with Trent Williams, Lauvao(/Nsekhe), Roullier, Scherff and Moses up front? Absolutely, that is a really good OL.
I just feel we could easily do better at LG without breaking the bank.
And when you just signed a 34 years old QB, I don't think it is that bad of an idea to beef up your OL.

To put it into perspective a bit, we had one of the top O lines in the league last year (when healthy) with Lauvao as the starter at the beginning of the year.
I am way more concerned with having quality depth on the Oline than Lauvao as the starter at LG.
I would much rather them invest in a fast twitch edge rusher who can F with the QB, than spend money on LG.
Chico23231 05-12-2018, 11:32 AM Ryan k 4th in league in sacks and Preston smith...Ryan Anderson and smart money spent on McPhee.
Payne will impact the rush inside and out.
Boxes checked with pass rush.
You need JAG at LG, if healthy Lauvao can be that. What about Bergstrom?
