The only way I can think to reconcile it...

They may think there's a high chance we'll be mediocre, but a low chance that we'll be shitty and a low chance that we'll be good.

So when they make odds of us making the NFC championship they think our chance is bad, but it doesn't necessarily mean they think we'll be the 4th worst in the conference.

They might just think they have a really good idea of what we are - a seven-to-nine win team.

Also, we have a truly brutal schedule.

9-7 by definition is a winning record

Don't forget about 8-7-1!

Next time we finish 8-8 I’m counting that as a winning record since it’s only 1 win away

You are right about true definition of winning records if we want to get technically with definition. I just don't see it that way. 9-7 means nothing if we don't go deep into playoffs. We can go 9-7 in a row for few years without playoff wins, would we be content with that? I highly doubt that.

Granted, we are talking about winning record specifically so I suppose you guys are right about this.

If you want to say contenders then I get your definition.
As for Vegas, I think we have risen slightly above Cleveland level, but we still haven't had a playoff win since '05, so I can understand their skepticism.

I would like to think with all the changes, and all the stability, we have a good few years for certain on the horizon, but the team still has to put it all together and be consistent about it.

Cooley's film breakdown of our 3rd round pick OT Geron Christian (https://omny.fm/shows/cooley-and-kevin-with-chris-cooley-and-kevin-sheeh/05-07-18-cooley-film-breakdown-geron-christian)

He likes him a lot, loves the pick, excited about it, says he's not as raw as people say, sees him 100% as a starter in this league:

+ can play both LT and RT (in fact his college team made their tackles switch side several times during games), exceptional footwork, good pass protecter, nasty guy in the run game, super long arms, really good at re-establishing him self and moving his feet, hard to get around in the pass game, fluid, good balance

- could be more immediately impactful with his first hit, never wins with his first punch, lets guys get too close to him because he's a bit late with his hands, panics a little bit sometimes against speed

Cooley finished his breakdown saying he's talented enough to be a week 1 starter! (This is not what we drafted him for, but this could be turn out to be a great pick).

I really felt like this was a great pick. They could have went and got a guard or corner but instead went BPA and got a backup LT/RT. With Trent's injuries we need a guy who can step in. I'd expect Christian to play a lot this year.

You are right. I never pay attention to Las Vegas stuff so perhaps my comment was off the point.. And yes I agree with you on bold part.

Bovada just came out with the over under season win totals.

We are at 7. Their number on us last year was 7.5.

The super bowl odds are kinda a long shot bet. The over under is a much better indicator of what Vegas thinks.

I don't believe 7 is a huge slight. I think we will go over. I did last year too and was so pissed after the giants game if you know what I mean.
