EARTHQUAKE2689 04-15-2018, 11:44 AM lol seriously He isn't??? Apparently the posters at The Warpath have been lying to me. KI Skins Fan 04-15-2018, 12:13 PM No but he's a real solid player at a position that has been of crucial need for several years. Right now I don't think there's any real urgency to sign him, but he's the only FA left that would make sense IMO. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk I don't think there's been a lot of hyperbole about Hankins. It's just that filling a clear need with a good player gives the FO the flexibility to go with a player who plays another position in the draft. If Vita Vea and an equally rated player are both available where the Skins would like to draft them, and we have already signed Hankins, then perhaps we take the other player and get stronger as a team than we would have if we hadn't signed Hankins and felt the need to take Vea. That's how i look at it, anyway. GridIron26 04-15-2018, 12:40 PM I don't think there's been a lot of hyperbole about Hankins. Although if we sign him to one year deal then we still would have the need to draft Dline player (Vea, Payne or whoever else). Chico23231 04-15-2018, 02:31 PM Again, Hankins strength is a top 3 in the league interior run defender. Snacks Harrison, Suh, Short (carolina) are among his statical peers. Brandon Williams up in Baltimore is a guy with the same type game. Jag rushing the passer...elite stopping the run. If Hankins comes down on price and would sign with us, which would allow the flexibility of moving back a couple spots to get RB Guice. Wow...kinda a dream scenario. That's how i look at it, anyway. That's exactly how I feel about it. But if we don't sign Hankins I'd like us to trade down and hope to get Payne late in the first. Per the draft trade value chart, which may not be 100% accurate but gives an idea, we could get reeaaal good value for our 1st! https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp Have no clue if they'll want to trade up, but if they do, how about NE's 23rd pick plus their late 2nd round (63rd) and late 3rd round (95th) ? We could still get Payne at 23 couldn't we? Anyway, per the chart, this is the kind of value we could get, and if a team wants a player available when we pick, we have the upper hand and can say "give us this or we'll happily use our 13th pick". That would be an awesome trade. If Mayfield slides it might happen. Then the Redskins could go; #1 NE- Payne #2 G #2 NE- CB #3 NE- RB Defensewins 04-15-2018, 04:15 PM Again, Hankins strength is a top 3 in the league interior run defender. You can add Calais Campbell to the list of exceptional DT's. There aren't that many and they are a valuable commodity. Look at the improvement the Jags got last year with an improved great defense. We need that type of D lineman. I wished we had signed him when he has been twice a FA in his career. EARTHQUAKE2689 04-15-2018, 05:02 PM That's exactly how I feel about it. I dont think Payne makes it past SD at 17 FrenchSkin 04-15-2018, 06:39 PM I dont think Payne makes it past SD at 17 You may very well be right. And this is another exemple of how signing Hankins would give us flexibility in the draft to fill other needs and/or go BPA and/or trade down without worrying about not filling a need, isn't it ? |
