Thank goodness we didn’t play the Browns today. Could you imagine being the team to end both winless streaks? And it would have happened too.

I’ll bet Mara ensures we play the NYG at home every week 17 from now on. Crazy how bad we are in that setting.

Like I keep saying, Kirk is baffling. There are one or two games a year where a truly top-10 QB needs to take control and make a statement. There are plenty of excuses for what happened today (blah, blah, blah), but Kirk has to own up to his part. I know he's the best statistical QB ever to play for us, but I don't trust him to win a playoff game.

Dan and Bruce have driven the bus into a ditch, and we're going to be here for a while.

Was today a big loss? It sounds like some people are mad we didn't finish the season on a strong note today.

S/N what happened to the notion of fielding the best 53, and winning a SB like that? Do people realize Kirk has a 24 million cap hit this year? Adding another few mil onto that is not going to break our backs.

Losing another week 17 game to a divisional opponent, and a shitty one at that, is kind of a big deal. Especially with .500 on the line. He just doesn't have the goods when you need the goods. He can't beat Giants or Cowboys. So every year we're automatic for 3 or 4 losses. If we resign him obviously I'll root for him, but after another meltdown, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Who do you want to bring in here that's better than Cousins? Deshawn Watson isn't in this draft. You can keep Alex Smith or Andy Dalton. Everyone has a hard on for Baker Mayfield, he certainly makes plays with both his arm and legs.

I can't take you seriously because of this line. Nobody in the NFL gets amped up to finish the season at .500. Would it be a solid statement to make after all the injuries? Sure. But it's nowhere near the same as finishing the season strong trying to make a playoff run or just get in.

No one we draft will be as good year 1, but we're a 7-9 team. Paying 30 million for an 8-8ish ceiling isn't worth it to me. We can sign guys to long term contracts and bring in a QB that gets a year to learn, and that is worth the risk to me .

Is giving a mediocre qb 30 million worth not having a better option for 1 year?

I just don't see Kirk ever winning a SB, and that's the only thing that matters.

The people who had the over on 7.5 wins (me) take it serious.

Listening to every former Redskins player this week, they weren't pumped for the game. They wanted a good showing but more than anything no injuries.

I don't know how important .500 was to the team or players. I have a feeling it wasn't. Whether it should be is up for debate.

That was an add on to my point, and I do think a lot of fans/players value being .500+ vs. under that. This site proves it from other threads, on the fan side. I see your point tho. At the end of the day 7-9 is the same as 8-8 if no playoffs.

Swearinger said it stunk to not finish 8-8. There is just something to not losing more than you win. A pride thing, even if no difference on making playoffs.
