According to my paystub my insurance over the last two years went from $423 a month to $455 a month .Deductible stayed the same $2,000 a year per person.

How did you have health insurance that did not conform to a federal law? That seems illegal.

The Affordable Care Act includes a special provision for members of Healthcare Sharing Ministries, so Medi-Share members are exempt from the mandate to purchase insurance or face financial penalties. You can review the details of the Affordable Care Act in Section 1501, page 148.

I have never proclaimed the ACA as perfect or the answer to everything but it was a first step .....you keep the good and fix the bad . I know some of the poster's here have newborns or young children,let me ask this. Are they healthy, if they are thank God . I have a grandson born with a heart condition he's a great kid and does almost what every other kid does ...and he loves sports ,at the age of nine he was drawing up football plays. Thing is he can't play them and is due to have heart surgery in three years(he is eleven) ,the prognosis is good and things are always getting better. My point is that when he is off of his parents Insurance ......no Insurance company will cover him becuase of his pre existing condition . Say what ever you want but that is not right.

Pretty sure as a 'non for profit " they pay little in taxes? I admit it is an interesting concept but I see no reason for it to be exempt from the ACA rules,yes I know it is ,I just would like to know why?

‘‘(2) RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS.—
...(B) HEALTH CARE SHARING MINISTRY.— ‘‘(i) IN GENERAL.—Such term shall not include any
individual for any month if such individual is a member
of a health care sharing ministry for the month.
‘‘(ii) HEALTH CARE SHARING MINISTRY.—The term
‘health care sharing ministry’ means an organization—
‘‘(I) which is described in section 501(c)(3) and
is exempt from taxation under section 501(a),
‘‘(II) members of which share a common set of
ethical or religious beliefs and share medical expenses
among members in accordance with those
beliefs and without regard to the State in which
a member resides or is employed,
‘‘(III) members of which retain membership
even after they develop a medical condition,
‘‘(IV) which (or a predecessor of which) has
been in existence at all times since December 31,
1999, and medical expenses of its members have
been shared continuously and without interruption

There are other exemptions there, I am assuming that Back2RFK isn't incarcerated or an illegal alien, so I think this exemption is the most likely one.

A question , why haven't "other religious organizations" done the same or gone on to these plains?I dont know whether they have or not. The only reason i know about medishare is one of the salesmen at my work uses it.

Ahh I misunderstood. I always consider exemptions to be conforming to the law.Yeah. Weird terminology i guess. It conforms to the whole law but not the specific "obama care" requirements.
