If they had lost this game I do not think I could ever have believed in Gruden again. I still cannot get over the fact that we had a 17-0 lead at home against an 0-5 team with a rook at qb, and somehow i was biting my nails with 45 seconds left.
I feel lot worse about this coming game than i did before that supposed victory.

I'll say, the rookie QB issue goes back long before Gruden. With no tape on a certain player, it feels like they all typically have a great game against us. Let's also remember that we were down to like our fifth string corner.

Is it me or do the injuries seem to get worse each year? It's making the sport much less enjoyable IMO. I remember when you could expect to watch your favorite players play the entire season. Not anymore it seems.

The NFL is on a decline with the concussion issues, political protest,Former players saying they would not let there children play the game ..also factor in other factors like name changes (political) ..the fact that teams can relocate. it all starts to add up. I am a lifelong Redskin fan however Im not sure I am a NFL fan anymore..If not for the Redskins I would not follow this sport .

Let's hope we can squeeze out a SB title before it really goes to shit (maybe closer than we think with this high potential lockout / strike soon)

Yeah that's why I'm not too mad about our disappointing play on d. We were down both starting corners and Allen, plus others were going in and out all day. Somehow we survived.

Idk, we bitch a lot about all the issues but when the game starts I forget all that shit. Die hards are still gonna watch. Maybe if your team is on a lifetime losing streak like the Browns you might reconsider, but anybody who loves the game is going to keep watching.

I agree with your points and would add that another reason that football is on a decline is that the product just isn't that good anymore. The constant injuries (mentioned above) stopping the game, the constant reviews that stop the game are two more more examples of why football just isn't that enjoyable to watch anymore. The NFL isn't going anywhere but the notion that everything stops when the NFL comes on TV doesn't ring true anymore.

There are ups and downs to the popularity of anything... but this notion that the NFL is in a “nosedive” or in any real trouble is a huge exaggeration.

It will be interesting to see where football is in 50 years. Boxing and horse racing were once wildly popular, now not so much. The NFL isn't nosediving such that its going to crash is a couple of years but it is on a downward trend that they need to find a way to reverse.

First and foremost the NFL is entertainment and right now its not very entertaining.

The biggest issue the NFL faces is the loss of kids playing little league which has been in a decline for several years due to brain injuries worries. That's a real issue.
