metalskins 10-16-2017, 11:39 AM My issue today was Gruden. Particularly at the end of the game. There was too much time left in the game to try and milk the clock. He needed to be thinking first down, especially after Hopkins missed that PAT and SF scored so quickly. That conservative play calling almost costed us the game.
Punting into the end zone was not smart. Should have been a booming, high, but short punt to have milked a little more time off the clock and to have gotten the punt coverage down the field in time. Instead, the punt goes into the end zone. :/
Still, a win's a win and now off to Philly.
hutch17 10-16-2017, 12:39 PM Told ya it was going to be closer than people were assuming. It shouldn't have been, but San Fan's record is not a reflection of their team. The could have easily had three wins at least right now. Glad we got the win. We need everyone healthy for next Monday night.
I am hoping San Fran finally puts it all together with Beathard for next week against dallass.

San Fran beating Dallas with a rookie QB and one that has the name sake of our beloved Bobby Beathard would be outstanding!
SCRedskinsFan 10-16-2017, 01:17 PM I did and it comes out to 3-2 and second place in the east.
Exactly. And tell the Broncos about an 0-5 team coming to their place and winning. Any given Sunday, and all that. We saw that the Rams are better than we thought when we played them, and likely so are the 49ers. We get WAY too crazy when we think the Skins “have” to beat someone.
Let’s not think that the Giants are going to be an easy out just because of their record. In that sense, last night’s game was very helpful, I think...
over the mountain 10-16-2017, 01:33 PM Anyone worried our offense hasnt really jelled consistently yet? Cousins went 25/37, 330 yds, 3 tds 1 int but that underneath stuff wont be there if that becomes our staple and teams game plan for it. Worked yesterday and that could have been a one time game plan.
Long range passing attack - not really there like years past. D jax factor? Just need to be patient and let Cousins-Crowder-Pryor figure it out?
Running game - rams game seems like an exception, not the rule. CT averaged 2.1 yds on 16 carries, Perrine 2.6 on 9 carries. Maybe SF has a solid run D, after yesterday they allow the 5th fewest yds per carry.
We are finding ways to win games.
I just really wish the down field passing attack would be hitting more than they are.

edit - just saw a slow mo reply of the garcon-Nicholson hit. Garcon definitely lowered his crown. Text book lowering crown. I was wrong on that.

Like that our D starts games fired up and focused. But we seem to pay for that with slack or average play later in games that lets opponents back in. Does the amphetamine wear off?
Needed more of a killer instinct from Gruden on last offensive series. Show KC that you trust him to bootleg or option, that you can spread and let CT to find a hole for 6 yards. That ends the game.
On teams, does anyone find it odd that we were never in position to return a punt? Always a fair catch (smartly), but the first guy always gets to Crowder just as he's catching. (I know, at least he's catching.) One 18 yard return per game is all I'm asking for.
These knee and head shots get harder to watch every year.

very good points.

Ranked #6
NFL Power Rankings: Where Does Every Team Stand Heading into Week 7? | Bleacher Report (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2731095-nfl-power-rankings-where-does-every-team-stand-heading-into-week-7)
The Redskins could have put their game against the 49ers away earlier, but it was still a solid win. Chris Thompson continues to impress as a runner and as a receiver out of the backfield. The defense was again solid, though there were a few times it let the 49ers off the hook.
Instead of making life miserable on C.J. Beathard, the Redskins allowed him to keep San Francisco in the game. There were far too many big pass plays from a guy seeing his first NFL action for my liking.
The Redskins' passing game is fantastic, though it would be nice to see Kirk Cousins getting the ball to Terrelle Pryor and Josh Doctson more. When the run game is clicking to complement the pass, the Washington offense can be lethal.
Overall, the Redskins are one of the better teams in the NFC.
It may seem odd for Washington to move up so much after beating the winless 49rs, but San Francisco is a tough opponent that competes hard every single week. This is a team that was coming off a bye, that wasn't sharp and was missing its best defender in Josh Norman. It still found a way to win. That's the mark of a playoff contender.
Schneed10 10-16-2017, 03:39 PM I say it makes up for the shitty call on the Davis “fumble”
Yeah this. Almost.
That call was so bad. SO BAD. It handed SF a TD and instead it should have been our ball. Completely changed the game.
I was so angry after that one that I almost couldn't enjoy the win. It enraged me so bad, and as the 49ers kept creeping back in the game all I could think was if we lose this game because of that call I'm going to kill something.
