If we can't get it done vs. SF at home after a bye week than I don't like our chances to make the playoffs. Also, it will be very demoralizing to a team that believes that they are close to playing at an elite level. So I'd predict no better than 8-8 after a loss. That said, it is definitely not a "must win". If we win out in the division the rest of the season it won't matter much, and we have other "weak" opponents in the schedule. We could make up for it by beating on of the tougher teams like the Broncos or Seahawks. Losing to SF may be a wake up call that sends them on a winning streak... Bottom line is, through 4 weeks this team looks like a winning franchise. It looks better than we have in decades. We beat 2 tough opponents and nearly beat 2 others, one of which is potentially the best in the NFL right now. If we come out and play like we have we will beat SF. If we don't, and we lose, than it will be the same old crap we've seen for 2 decades; an average team that sometimes shows up and sometimes doesn't.
