Chico23231 03-09-2017, 11:23 AM Those are sources telling you; they really don't know either. Alcoholics are great at hiding their drinking or level of drinking.
Here is a suggestion; where ever McC lands go follow that team; you seem to have a man crush on him.
:laughing2
Look, Im just telling you what I see from 2 good sources.
Your right, Alcoholics and people with substance abuse issues are good at hiding it. Im not debating that. Im just stating this issue isn't at the heart of this move.
SkinsGuru...I can respect that but just disagree when it comes down to it.
SkinsGuru 03-09-2017, 11:24 AM lets also not forget . . . his wife came up swinging when the media suggested the Redskins sent him home . . . this is all on him . . . the Skins FO is pissed that the only thing he was brought in for, player scouting, was being destroyed by his inability to do his job and be at the combine and so on due to his "family problems" err . . . drinking habit.
mredskins 03-09-2017, 11:28 AM IMO McC was on a prove it deal with the Skins and BA was his babysitter. If in the last two years he was on good behavior; I am sure he still be here. Obviously something went wrong either his drinking, his inability to compromise, etc...but something happened that soured his relationship with the Skins. Again, this isn't the first or second time McC has soured his relationship with an organization.
Guy has great talent but his demons are overriding that talent at this point.
CRedskinsRule 03-09-2017, 11:28 AM Just go back a read my post from the last couple pages...I never said he wasn't having drinks. I was saying his drinking was absolutely not the issue in Redskins park. The article clearly states from multiple people inside the Organization McC drinking was never an issue. If McC drinking was the issue, the article about McC "downfall" as a skins executive would absolutely be about his struggles, addiction, etc. There also would be evidence of issues or events cited. There isn't any.
The problem, of course, is whether the article is authoritative, or speculative. If authoritative, then you would be right. But it isn't. It's reporters culling sources and making an article out of it. We don't, and may never, know the full story, but to assume only wrong on one side, ie "drinking was never an issue", seems to imply a bias in the reporting to me. An alcoholic, just like any other addict will have days and weeks where his/her addiction overrides his/her ability to function at work.
Alvin Walton 03-09-2017, 11:29 AM Awesome thread.....
skinsfan69 03-09-2017, 11:30 AM I really don't see Cooley as an ass kisser, but he may not be happy that SM never gave him a shot to get back on the field.
We are really going to argue over which 5th string WR we should have kept? ok...
It was brought up in the article so that's why I mentioned it. Things like that probably go on in every organization, but SM was suppose to have control over the roster. If he wanted to move on from Grant and was overruled then that's probably one many reasons he walked out..

Journalist who wrote it is a stand up, guy in the know. I didn't read it as speculative at all. Seems well sourced with clear events and examples of a power struggle between Bruce and McC.
The drinking issue is mention and vetted in the article. If there was more of a story there, we should have heard of this from other sources.
But other sources have clearly speculated on dysfunction within the org and NOT a drinking problem.

Wow
McC was not destined to prevail in a contest between him and BA. Allen is the proxy for DS in all things, and in that sense, a necessary evil. We're better off these days not having Dan going on man-dates with players he has a crush on. Yet Dan's desires have to be channeled through someone, and Allen plays that role pretty well; I only half hate him.
So with Jay's stock rising and inevitable style/ego clashes between McC and BA (in part, channeling Snyder), McC clearly is the odd man out.
The best we can hope for is that (1) BA continues to acknowledge that he needs help with talent evaluation, and (2) Cousins gets signed. If those things don't happen, then you can throw a match into the dumpster.
