Bangee7 03-06-2017, 07:52 PM FAKE NEWS!!!! I don't believe nothing I read anymore without serious doubts... I love it when these so called sports reporters leak out all this info and 99% of it is BS!! Truth is there are probably only 4 people that really know whats going on with Scott..it is Snyder,Allen,Gruden and Scott. same with Cousins . we will know when we know.
I agree....this too shall pass.
Many of these folks probably have good reason to dislike the Danny, goodness knows he brought much of this on himself.
But seriously, the guy hasn't been visible for 2-3 years & yet all these "butt hurt" reporters keep jabbing.
At the end of the day, I personally don't care if there is dysfunction. There's been plenty of dysfunction in Dallas for years & one great draft later, everyone is happy.
So, let's get our great draft (I don't care who makes the picks or gets the credit for it) & let's win some playoff games.
scot and gruden generally do get along. I don't think it quite came out the way he meant it. Scot and allen is really where the real dissension is. I don't want to get into it because it would mean bringing up "he who shall not be named again" but the gm job was aj smith's to have, but snyder shot it down over a strong disagreement over "he who shall not be named"
rg3?
44Deezel 03-07-2017, 12:35 AM All I do besides work is drink beer and watch sports. If Bruce Allen has that much pull over the GM he should just be the GM. Who else is going to want to come in if GM is just a title but Allen still calls all the shots.
Who's to blame for the meh drafts, free agent busts and the Cousins contract screw up? Where's the proof that Scot is somehow indispensable and all hell will break loose if he departs?
I like the idea of a competent "football guy" GM as much as the next Skins fan, but what exactly has Scot done? And what IF he's a mess personally and can't keep his act together?
All Skins fault? I don't get the sense this is the total dumpster fire the media is making it out to be. They have an axe to grind, because they're being kept out of the loop.

No axe to grind.
sdskinsfan2001 03-07-2017, 02:13 AM I think there are certain media people that will just never say anything good about the Redskins, like Florio, but unfortunately they're the ones everyone focuses on. That's the same in news in general. You always here way more about bad stuff than good stuff. I wish Cooley didn't say what he did, even if it's 100% true. But if he didn't someone else would have. And if SM is showing signs of being a drunk again then he brought it on himself. Hopefully he has it together or can get it together because I'd prefer he stuck around.
We already extended Jay and if we finalize a contract with Kirk all the other stuff will fall by the way side and we can talk about strictly football again.

I love your optimism, and normally I'm one of the more optimistic cats in burgundy and gold, but the truth is, this has disaster written all over it. I don't think it's coincidence that Scot McCloughan comes in and suddenly the team is winning 8 or 9 games and making the playoffs. McCloughan has been around three successful transitions of teams from poor to fantastic. He knows how to bring in the right guys and he knows the correct way to build through the draft. You also can't judge a draft after one season. It takes a few seasons to really get a good idea how good or bad that draft really was. And least we also remember that in the past, Scot McCloughan's players tend to last longer in the NFL than players drafted by any other GM, so that tells you something of the magnitude of talent McCloughan can bring to the scouting department. When he gets the axe, you're going to see it then.
We do not want Bruce Allen governing over player acquisitions.
This is what I was talking about when I said Gruden vs McC, not that they don't get along but it seems that Gruden's influence is growing and perhaps filling the void from McC's diminishing role.

As long as Gruden makes the right decisions with personnel, then I don't see a problem with Gruden's growing influence. His move with RGIII to Kirk Cousins was a highly risky one that paid off. I love the idea of having a good coach around for a few years. That being said, I don't think it should ever grow to the point to where he's coach/GM. I think there needs to be a solid player personnel guy in that position, one that both Gruden and Allen would respect and likewise. A good working relationship with all three. I still would love to keep McCloughan on staff if he's willing to take some sort of a diminished role. If he's head of the scouting department or something like that, but I don't know how that would honestly work with the personalities we currently have in the front office now. Who knows? Maybe McCloughan keeps his job and everybody continues to hold hands and sing camp fire songs? I just don't trust player acquisition to Bruce Allen, and I don't think a head coach should be taking on that responsibility - especially when he's only been head coach for three years.
Chico23231 03-07-2017, 03:53 PM After missing the Combine, Redskins GM Scot McCloughan has not returned to team headquarters and is not involved in free agent negotiations.
Publicly, team brass has insisted McCloughan would return to Redskins Park whenever he is finished dealing with "personal matters." Privately, it appears McCloughan is being forced out or already has been. The NFL Combine is a critical venue for both draft and free agency information gathering, and teams make some of their biggest decisions of the year during this week's legal tampering window and Thursday's official start of free agency.
McC not negotiation with FA...doesn't make sense.

It does if he's gonna get fired.
