He's proven multiple times that he's not a "functional alcoholic"
Exactly. Fired from his last two jobs.
I wouldn't minimize SM not being at the combine. The guy is a draftaholic as well if he isn't there something is up...

pretty good summation of the SM news. Report: Scot McCloughan no longer running Redskins - CBSSports.com (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/report-scot-mccloughan-no-longer-running-redskins/)
Russell reported that:
“President Bruce Allen, coach Jay Gruden, scouts Alex Santos and Scott Campbell, and personnel executive Doug Williams are now running the team. Russell also reported Williams has taken on an ‘increased role’ in the organization, likely at McCloughan’s expense. McCloughan now ‘has nothing to do with anything and has not for a very long time.'"
Regardless of how deeply it's related to alcohol and an alcohol problem, this was the risk the Skins took in bringing SM here. Sadly, I can't remember the last time the Skins took a risk and it actually didn't backfire, I am open to being reminded of any and all great success stories of the last 20 years.

complete shit show on the radio driving into work...our guy in Richmond had Chris Russell on. If Chris Russell is right...this aint looking to good.
Mike Robinson from NFL network said Scott told him inside Redskin Park from day 1 its been kinda like a power struggle from within the organization. That those are folks from inside the FO who side with Bruce and aren't "his guys" meaning, folks who he couldnt trust.
This all starts at the top, dan Snyder folks. all starts at the top

Not drinking related

It's drinking related. That funeral/"family matters" Stuffed happened early Feb. Weeks ago so that isn't the reason he's not at the combine. He's probably in a rehab.
Why can't we get something nice for a fucking change.

I,m totally scared we are going to screw this whole off season up royally, the front office b.s. Is incredible we are becoming the laughing stock of the league again who the hell is running the team we all would like to know ,secondly what are we doing with Jackson and garçon seems to me we are letting them both go ugh we have no idea what doctson can do ,then you here reports that we will not be active a lot in free agency and we might take an offensive player with the first round pick really wow just incredible, unless it is one of the two top RB,s we are so close to being pretty darn good and we are so close to fucking this whole thing up and being the joke of the league again ,I really hope there is a god above because this organization needs all the help it can get...

Any way you look at it, it's not good. Now, is it a bad thing if Gruden is having more influence over player acquisition? I'd much rather McC have it, but I do think Gruden knows what he's looking for.
The disturbing part is the power struggle stuff.
Still, when you get down to it, it's still the same scouting staff with Campbell et al just with Doug Williams and Allen leading the way. Assuming the reports are accurate. And I can't see a reason to question them.
But it's still the same scouting staff, they're the ones that informed McC and they'll be the same ones informing Allen and Doug. It just means McC may not be making the call on draft day as to who to select. That worries me a bit because he could be counted on to take BPA. I get a little concerned we'll start reaching for need with a change at the helm.
