Miss those days, I'm glad some people acknowledge the greatness of that team:

Yup. I don't expect them to pull an NHL and say that testing positive for marijuana will only be a fine and no suspension though. Kinda ironic considering the NFL is one of the most physically demanding sports there is, they should be the most proactive about allowing treatment options that aren't performance enhancing.

Awesome, this is the year I became a Skins fan.
It's been an uphill climb ever since.

If anybody who was too young to really know how great that '91 team was, just look at today's New England Patriots. That's exactly how the 1991 Redskins were. That team was a well-oiled machine. Very well coached. No nonsense, mission oriented team. That team was also very physical on both sides of the ball. The only other time I felt the Redskins were as dominate during the Gibbs 1.0 era was in 1983. I think they had two one-point losses that year, but of course the Super Bowl was disappointing. Still, it shows how great of a coach Joe Gibbs was during that time. Mark Rypien was no Tom Brady, and it makes you wonder if Gibbs had stayed around another ten years if Rypien would have had a bit longer tenure with the Redskins or if Gibbs would have eventually won a fourth Super Bowl with a fourth quarterback?

NFL and medical marijuana: A Q&A with former Eagles OL Todd Herremans - Philadelphia Eagles Blog- ESPN (http://www.espn.com/blog/philadelphia-eagles/post/_/id/20091/the-nfl-and-medical-marijuana-a-qa-with-former-eagle-todd-herremans)
Herremans: It really is a sad topic. One in seven NFL players leaves the league with some sort of struggle with opioids. That is a horrific stat. I have seen teammates scouring the locker room looking for anyone with an opiate they could take just to make them stop shaking and feel normal so they can go out and practice. I only had a couple experiences firsthand seeing this in the locker room, and it's because they were people I was close to, but it was enough to know that it's a league-wide issue.
You would think the NFL would be more open to an alternative?

I think that the 91 team, although very dominant, they were getting old. And that age showed the following year when the team was often injured. There was a piece I believe in America's Game 91 Skins when after a flat pre season game, Cooke called out Gibbs, saying.. "you kept too many guys on this team that are old." And then stuck the knife into Gibbs a little more and said..."now look at Jimmy Johnson, he's doin' it the right way." I guess he meant that Johnson was going with a youth movement and Cooke saw that. So even had Gibbs stuck around, the team would have had to been rebuilt, plus 93 or 94 was the first year of the cap and the Redskins didn't prepare for it at all. I think Joe knew what was coming and saw the writing on the wall. A lot of his guys were going to have to be replaced, plus he did have some health issues....
