Chico23231 03-02-2017, 04:32 PM 100%. Daniel Jeremiah knows nothing. Deal is actually already done, media is just dragging it out because they like drama
BREAKING: SmootSmack confirms Fake News!
KI Skins Fan 03-02-2017, 05:05 PM a friend who is also a redskins fan has been following the situation. when he said 5 years / $125m / $75m guaranteed, i thought that was insane.
but the more i considered it, that's probably what it will take. luck got 6yr/$140m/$87m guaranteed? luck is 3-3 in playoff games and hasn't lead his team there since 2014.
i could live w 5 years, $125m w $75m guaranteed.
I'm thinking that Joe Flacco's contract is a better frame of reference than Andrew Luck's contract.
I'd like to think they could get a deal done with 5 years, $115M with $48M guaranteed. That would average $23M per year and the guarantee would be 40% of the total contract and twice as much as Kirk is guaranteed on a Franchise Tag deal for 2017.
Meanwhile, McDonald's is replacing workers making $9.50 per hour with robots. Think about that for a minute, Kirk!
FrenchSkin 03-02-2017, 05:09 PM I think $20M is right if your intent is to meet in the middle at $22.5 or $23.0.
If I were Schaffer I would have started in the exact same spot.
At least at 20M a year they are negotiating !
Cooley strongly believes that last year the first offer made by the Redskins was so lower than KC expected and KC's first counter offer was so much higher than the Redskins expected there was no negotiation to speak of.
I'm also thinking, on top of figuring out huge numbers, all this time, hesitations, leaking and drama helped the team get a sense of how the fanbase would react.
Like "ok we can pay him big money and not look like fools getting robbed"...
Do you think than can be any kind of a factor, or not at all?

I doubt they give a rat's ass what the fans think. Once again, I'm happy to help you increase your stock of American vernacular phrases.
I hear that some people over there would like Obama to run for President of France. I'd like him to move to France, also.
metalskins 03-02-2017, 05:36 PM I think the easy part is getting the yearly base salary down. Probably just figuring out the guaranteed money part of the deal and how to back-load the deal so that the worst part hits in higher cap years.
I also think a deal will get done, unless a trade offer is such that they can't refuse.
CRedskinsRule 03-02-2017, 06:06 PM As long as both sides are realistic it really ought to be "easy". My concern is whether both sides are.
Irrefutable 03-02-2017, 10:18 PM KC probably wants to know if he will have any WRs to throw to. All this stuff about liking the coaches and knowing the system is moot, if there is no one to throw to.

He has at a minimum Reed, Crowder, Davis, likely Doctson, andheck even Ryan Grant, then you add Chris Thompson in. I don't think targets are an issue in his mind, especially if he believes it is his ability that has lifted the receiving corps.

Grant is worthless, and you forgot Maurice Harris in there. He probably will make the team before Grant. Also, don't be too surprised if we draft a WR, so Kirk might have a shiny new addition to the fold.
FlyerSkin 03-02-2017, 10:29 PM 22 or 23 is absolutely fine by me. 25+ I would have to reconsider.
That is what I am thinking. $25 million would be my ceiling. I think he will improve over last season, but he really has to rise to the occasion when he gets some real heat to make $25+. I love the guy, but he needs to hang in there when things get a bit rough.
