Kirk Cousins 365 thread

ESPN is reporting that Kirk has already made up his mind and that he wants to play in SF... O well fuck it, I knew this would happen when he went to that Atlanta game, that was too fishy. Hopefully we get romo now and the number 2 pick, if not we are a 4-12 team again.

My reading of that is that the only team he would sign long term with (besides signing with us if we up the offer) is the 49ers. It seems like he is just killing his own trade value so we are force to offer him more once trading him becomes a non option.

I just don't see Dan paying Kirk 25M a year, and Ive not once heard a beep from Scot saying "Kirk is our guy'

I am not saying it will work, I just think that is what Kirk is doing. I could totally see Dan taking a scalpel to his nose.

Just not sure I buy that. They have no one on offense. Literally no one.

Money talks and face it, our
FO isn't quite sold on Kirk. His stats improved markedly, but he folds when things get hot. I want him to stay, but I can't really blame the front office sitting on its hands either. The defense needs to be rebuilt and we might be looking at losing our best wideouts as well. The running game is not so strong either. Keeping Kirk might not bring us to the promised land if the supporting cast isn't there.

Thank you for that, that is a positive post, but why would the skins wait until the last day to announce the contract? If they knew they could get a deal done with Kirk i have a feeling they would already have done it.

My money says he is tagged and given the tag that lets other teams negotiate with him. I think it's plainly obvious that Snyder doesn't want Cousins on this team this coming season....

The front office isn't entirely sold on him and the prospect of getting two first round picks is tempting. The next week or two will be very interesting to say the least. I hope
Kirk stays or everything will unravel
I think. If Gruden gets canned we will be at
Cleveland depths. I just don't see any good coaching talent wanting to come here.

I think we need to settle down a little bit, or some of us might die of a heart attack before the start of next season.

I think one thing's for sure: KC will be tagged today.

And then we won't know were he's going until a few days before the draft.

And if he's not traded at that point we won't know if he plays under the tag or a long term deal until July 15th.

That's a lot of time to speculate.

And again from a business standpoint I can understand how this board would want to use the non-exclusive tag to ask the other teams how much KC's worth.

If he's not willing to accept anything under what he considers to be his price, they have nothing to lose:

-either somebody offers the price he's asking and they can match it, knowing they're not overpaying

-either nobody offers the price he's asking and they can use that to negotiate a deal just a little cheaper before July 15th

We are a talking about more money than most of us we'll make in our entire life, this can take some time to be settled.

Good point. If the first HC to have 2 back to back good seasons here since 20 years and so gets canned, any coach would be crazy to accept a job here.

Hope that doesn't happen.

BTW, I was right about the compensation, if you listen to the 4th hour of yesterday (27th) Cooley and Kevin's, you'll hear them discuss what would the compensation for Kirk be, and they both think nobody would give up two 1st rounders:

Well his wife and her family are from Atlanta, so he was going to be there regardless.

For the right price, Kirk will sign in DC. But if he's going to be traded the only place he'll sign a long-term deal is SF. Chicago being a very distant second. So SF is really the only viable trade partner
