My preference is signing him to the non exclusive franchise tag and hope some team takes the bait. I'll take the 2 1st round picks. Cousins will find out he was spoiled here with all the weapons and solid offensive line. He won't be nearly as good any where else. And no, I don't have the answer for who plays qb next year but you have the draft and all off season to figure it out. I don't want him playing the season on the franchise tag again this year.

Question: if not cousins, then who do you want as the QB next year?
1. Watson
2. Jimmy Garoppolo
3. McCoy
4. Romo
5. Cutler
6. Tribesky or the kid from Notre Dame
7. Alex Smith if cut by the Chiefs
8. Other, then who?
The thought of going this route really just sucks the life out of me as a Redskin fan.
If RG3 was putting up the numbers that KC has he'd have his long term deal. Those dummies couldn't wait to give him 16 million, not thinking he'd get beat out.

It may be true, but Florio is notoriously wrong, and this could simply be KC pushing his leverage to the hilt for a long term deal.
Or it could be the ongoing saga that is the skins fan's life.

It is my understanding the 2 first round picks would be the starting point of negotiations for the compensation, it could be more or less, and Cooley implied the other day that no team would actually give that much.
Well, it wouldn't be anything less. The standard compensation are the two first round picks. The Redskins don't have to negotiate in this instance. Now if the team has something else that appears to be "equal value" in the Redskins' eyes, say a star defensive player and some lower round picks or a couple defensive players, then the Redskins could negotiate a deal like that. But, they don't have to take anything less than the two first round picks.

Yeah I say we trade 2 firsts and a second for the right to draft DeShaun Watson. We can't do anything until we fill this gaping hole at qb.
You sure that's enough???

Its just a tough reality to face, but from what we've heard its not out of the question.
I stated before, I don't want Cousins to play under the franchise tag again, because he will walk and we get nothing. The best case scenario is IMO is franchise and get San Fran, Cleveland, and Chicago in a bidding war for Cousins....and at the sametime call New England and make a gentleman agreement the 17th for Jimmy Garoppolo if we can move Cousins for picks. In the end, we will move Cousins for Multiple 1st rounders...one being a top 3 this year and next year. Along with additional later picks most likely.
I think this setups us up in the two ways, we get a 1 of the 2 best available QB in the offseason and it clears the way for a possible Josh McDaniel hire next year if Gruden shits the bed.
All this said, my preference is to sign Cousins long term.

Picture of Teds Montana grill that Cousins was at yesterday.
Anyone recognize the terrain or the license plate?
I'm curious to now where he is.
