Item 4. Although accurate is really not even comprehensible. A QB that is tagged for a third year is entitled to a 44% raise from the most recent tag. And if KC is making 32M in 2017, if tagged a third time, he will get 49M for 2018.
Your numbers are way off. His tag for 2017 is $24m.

you have the numbers wrong, his tag this year is 24M, next year's is 32M still a crazy number, but ARodgers will get that at his next signing, and if KC were to prove himself next year, by winning at least 1 playoff game and keeping his INT's down, he would get it too.

If KC had won that Giants game and gotten to the playoffs (and maybe win a playoff game?) he probably would have gotten the money that he wants.
Aaron Rodgers was a in a similar situation as KC (no running game/poor defense) and pretty much carried the team on his back to the playoffs.
He can play under the tag this year or San Francisco can have him for that #2 overall pick. But I don't think KC needs to be the highest paid QB.

Agreed, that game had to be looked at as his moment to grab the gold. And he didn't. Yes the team struggles for the year were not solely on him, but for good or bad there are games and moments that define a QB's value, and the show that was put on that game simply was not a contract sealing show.

Kirk Cousins appealed personally to owner Dan Snyder for a trade but was basically told not to get his hopes up, per sources.

we will either play with KC for the year, or get a shiny new qb in the draft. Likely we will get a shiny new qb either way.

This is pretty damning. Mort is an extremely credible source.

My question with Cousins is this, does Gruden want Cousins as his QB for the future? Can we answer that?

This is a great question.
But ultimately irrelevant. I think it's clear that if Cousins is asking the owner for a trade, and I fully believe Mort, then it doesn't matter how much Jay wants him or how much we offer in a long term deal. Because Cousins won't sign it.
Coming to terms with the notion that trading him is the only option. I'm fearful Snyder won't do it, out of spite to Kyle, and Kirk will walk next year or the year after, for nothing but a compensatory 3rd rounder.
