Washington Redskins no longer have issues with salary cap - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN (http://www.espn.com/blog/washington-redskins/post/_/id/29802/redskins-no-longer-have-issues-with-salary-cap)
I think folks gonna come to a quick realization that decent starters gonna get paid. That's why 8.5-9.5 isn't out of the question for Baker...especially if Garcon starting number is 9 per year....
"But this cap room is why any decision on keeping free-agent receivers Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson won’t come down to being unable to afford them. Both will have multiple suitors, so their price tag will start around $9 million per year, with Jackson likely being able to command more."
...damn just saw this article posted in the Cousins thread. my bad
Irrefutable

If you sign Cousins $20+, Baker $9, Garcon $9, and Jackson $9 you are down to $23 million very quickly. (You need about $5 for draft picks too) And you have added no one new to the defense. They need to spend wisely on every free-agent and not overpay their own.

For me, Cousins has to be resigned and if he'll take a $23M average deal, the cap can take it.
DJax would be nice but he's off to Philly.
I'd keep Baker on $8M. He's not only a good player, he's a leader and very emotive player. Just what Gruden likes and the team needs.
Garcon is worth keeping if we can get $7.5M average. He's coming off a 1000y season why would you not try to resign him?
Davis likewise. Proved he's over his 49ers slump and really seems to like it here. Probably get a cap friendly deal too.
Galette could be a bust if he's hurt again or he could be a Tim Hightower revelation. For what he's likely to cost after 2 years out, I'm betting he's a cap friendly bargain.
Ihenacho would be good for depth, but not at starter money. We need to draft at least one S as there is pretty much zilch in FA, so he's worth keeping as insurance.
Sullivan I'd keep as a solid backup.
Rest are either r friendly deals or gone.
How's it work with RFA's? Don't we get compensation if they sign elsewhere?
Gallette is willing to work for anything they give him. He just wants another chance to prove himself, and I'm all about giving him another chance. He won't command much. With Jackson, sure, I'd love to keep him if we could, but yeah, he's going to get paid and I think the Redskins are still loaded at wide receiver enough to not retain Jackson. Definitely think Garcon needs to be re-sighed. I agree about Davis. Niles Paul has been a no-show this year, and I think Davis redeemed himself.

With the depth we have at WR, we do not need both DJAX and Garcon. One must go so we can address defense, oline, RB and blocking TE
Let Jackson walk, I think he's intent on signing elsewhere anyway.

I am in the boat of signing Cousins to the non-exclusive tag and hoping SF or another team in the top 10 bites. It would be taking a step back this year to be great for the next 3-5 years.
If we can get SF #2 pick I am doing the following...
Draft #2 Jonathan Allen DE Alabama
Draft #17 Jabrill Peppers S Michigan or RAEKWON MCMILLAN ILB Ohio State
If we draft McMillan try to draft Budda Baker FS Washington in the 2nd round. I'd also take Ben Boulware in the 6th, I think he's a baller that will grow into a star.
As far as Free Agents by letting Cousins go, we can put that money elsewhere, below are name I'm interested in...
Mike Glennon QB or Ryan Mallett QB
DeAngelo Williams RB
Ted Ginn Jr. WR or Kendall Wright WR or Terrelle Pryor WR
Pierre Garcon WR
Vernon Davis TE
Ronald Leary G
Combination of atleast three of the following:
*Chris Baker DE*
Glenn Dorsey DE/NT
Ziggy Hood DE
Alan Branch NT
William Gholston DE
*Johnathan Hankins DT*
Junior Galette OLB
Lorenzo Alexander OLB
Manti Te'o ILB
Dont'a Hightower ILB
Greg Toler CB
Chris Culliver CB- Knee should be healed. doesn't perform cut him
Dee Milliner CB- same thing as Culliver
DAngelo Hall S

I'm drafting that QB in 2018 with that second first round pick we get when SF signed the sheet.
I'm not Vinny but I do think he was a member on here at one time lol!
