FlyerSkin 12-18-2016, 09:15 PM Dallas winning is a must now. Gmen took care of business. Pretty much only one spot open at this point. IF the Bucs win, I think they are more inclined to run the table than we are. Main thing is they have a defense and we don't.

FlyerSkin 12-18-2016, 09:20 PM I'd also be fine with Gus Bradley. If Marvin Lewis is let go I'd be fine with him coming back, or Guenther. We just need someone that can coach better on 3rd down. I've never seen a defense that basically drops their drawers more on 3rd down than this one.
I wouldn't be surprised if Marv Lewis ends up in LA. Not saying that is the likely thing to happen, but he would be the best HC candidate floating around if Cincy let him go. LA needs to get the butts in the seats or more to the point keep them there. Lewis would be a big name. If we do happen to make the playoffs and we see some sort of turnaround, I am not sure Scott will kick Barry to the curb. We all know he doesn't have very much to work with. If the D collapses his butt is gone for sure though. If he does go, I hope this ends the 3-4 experiment for good.

That is a good idea! !!! He is built more like a safety.

Been begging for it for a few weeks now.
To me that's the best way of getting your best 11 players on the field.
One thing I don't get: how complicated would it be to modify the playbook to have one guy playing SS (Cravens) and one guy playing FS (Blackmon/Ihenacho) ?
I mean if now they have to be able to play both, maybe Cravens could stick to SS and just switch sides with the other safety when the formation would dictate that he plays FS ?

Except he has the speed of a LB - and not a particularly fast LB - and, in the defense, that could be critical.
Since Barry doesn't assign a SS v. a FS, Cravens could end up covering the deep half of the field. While I am sure his study habits will improve his anticipation, you simply can't teach speed.
He really needs a creative DC to move him around and find a defense that maximizes his potential. Alternatively, the Skins need to drop the non-designation and have their safeties playing traditional roles so that Cravens can develop as a true SS. To do so, however, would significantly alter the way the Skins play defense.

Could you develop how complicated it would be? I feel like they'd just have to switch sides like normal safeties do...

News flash: Jay Gruden thinks S'ua Cravens might make a good safety!
In other news, Jay Gruden and Joe Barry were each shown photos of the U.S. Capitol Building and the Washington Monument and both of them correctly identified the famous landmarks.
Cravens is a playmaker. He needs to be on the field and he fits as an in the box SS. So change the f'n coverages a little! If Barry can't figure it out, change the DC, too.
p.s. Draft or sign a true FS with speed and range while you're at it.
