They did not lose much either, thanks having a 3 game lead in the division and thanks to Green Bay pounding the Seahawks.

Stars are still aligned for the top seed on the conference.

I guess you forgot about the Lions. They're only 2 games behind the Cowboys at 9-4. They also play Dallas the day after Christmas on MNF. That could be an extremely, huge game, if Dallas loses to Tampa Bay, and Detriot beat the Giants next Sunday.

About time indeed, I have never seen a coach rewarded for such mediocrity in all my time watching football. I was seriously beginning to think Kroenke is content having a mediocre team as long as he is making money. But seeing how empty that stadium is week after week makes me think his hand was forced.

EDIT: Link up: Jeff Fisher has been fired as coach of St. Louis Rams (http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18263718/jeff-fisher-fired-coach-st-louis-rams)

I said, similar on this board a couple weeks ago. He's gonna have to evolve his game or his style of play isn't sustainable.

Yeah Exactly. Maybe the staff is holding him back. They are definitely very conservative it appears. Although based on what he was in college I do not think he will evolve into a Romo ever. It is definitely a tricky situation in Dallas, I mean you cannot change things when you are winning, but I feel like Dak has little to do with the sudden renaissance in Dallas. Zeke is a difference maker (though i give most credit to the o line). I think Lee is great and their D is playing way above their talent level - Marinelli and that oline have everything to do with their success. Garrett and Zeke are just along for the ride. Garrett just always looks like dumbfounded by their success. Like he wants to go "wow we won again". Lol. I honestly think Romo would have this team undefeated rite now. Dak was a disaster last night. His limitations-whether self induced or staff induced- have caught up with him.

Not surprised about Fisher. Goff looks lost, they get blown out yesterday and you piss off the most famous player in franchise history. What did surprise me about the Rams is how bad their defense has played.

On a side note, it looks like Greg Williams will be available this off season. I'd most certainly like to see him back in DC.

Thank god you were here to remind us of how great the Cowboys are this year. This is exactly what we needed to hear.

Greatness is only achieved in the post-season.

Good post on both areas.

It is no secret that Goff was forced on Fisher, not making excuses for Fisher but if Goff is a bust then no head coach will be able to hide it.

Gregg Williams will probably never come back here because according to him he was screwed over in getting the HC job here when we hired Zorn, if what he says is true. That being said even Gregg Williams would need at least two full seasons i think to get rid of all the trash and below starting-caliber players that we have on defense, although i would love to see him back here.

I do not like it when teams fire coaches in the middle of a season, makes me think of Dan Snyder, and also makes me remember that i can't think of a single time, maybe ever, when firing the coach during the season resulted in the team finishing on a winning streak, or going to the playoffs... But it would be ironic if the rams finish 7-9....
