Chico23231 12-04-2016, 10:56 PM How bout Ryan Grant with the game of his life.. 2 catches for 20 yards. Beast mode
Lol. Shocking...he didn't slip and fall today? That's his usual go too move
htownskinfan 12-04-2016, 11:40 PM Been saying since game 4 or 5 I would be shocked if we make playoffs because of the defense, today was no surprise. This game turned out EXACTLY as I predicted in the pregame thread,to quote myself:
"Thats the formula for every game isnt it? I dont see it happening. We dont have a magic pill for the defense thats going to fix it,Johnson has been the best back in the league since he became a starter. If we can get lucky and get some leads and Johnson doesnt get many carries then thats the only way I see us stopping him.
Palmer is old but he's still capable of having a great game, especially against our defense.I wont be shocked if we win by any stretch, but I'm more inclined to go with Az at home in this one.We have to get tds in the red zone, and thats another thing we need a magic pill for, because we dont capitalize when we have those opportunities."
I didnt get to see the game, was driving around town listening to around the nfl on the radio when they cut to the redskins with 3rd and 1 on the goal line and they throw a focking fade!!? WTF,I thought i was going to have an aneurysm I was so focking mad.And I heard gruden saying earlier in the week they werent running enough in the red zone and then they pull that shit. And on top of that we make Carson Palmer look all pro again{which I was expecting, but damn!}I thing he had 104 rating for the game.
With this defense it's going to be hard to make playoffs, then add shitty playcalling in redzone to the list, well:doh:
skinsfan69 12-04-2016, 11:44 PM Welp we really needed that one. Tie is gonna keep us out of the playoffs most likely.
Thank god David Johnson isn't in our division, guy is a beast. He is awesome at getting through tight holes and has an ability for shifty moves within the hole. Twice i saw him perfectly blanketed with coverage...Cravens and Bree...and twice he made great catch for big plays.
Look, playoff teams win that game. On defense we are screwed up front...McC didn't get us help at NT or DE in the offseason and it's killed the team. Everyone knew we needed help going into the season and the moves we made weren't good. Also at the backend of the defense at safety we don't have enough coverage talent. The final td to seal the game it reared its ugly head again with no help over the top. Bruton was a bad free agent signing.
Cousins was just ok today. Of course Kelly ran well but we didn't go to him enough. Mcvay's inability to scheme a balance offensive attack is holding us back especially in the red zone. He's overrated IMO.
Hats off to Carson Palmer today, he was great...Fitzgerald as well.
I think we all have to remember that we're not going the FA route anymore. The FA's that SM is going to sign are journeymen type of guys. He's going to upgrade the defense and the team basically through the draft.

Free agent route is ok if you have a plan
skinsfaninok 12-04-2016, 11:56 PM The tie is gonna play huge for us. If we finish with 9 wins we get in because of it unless Tampa just rolls and wins out. Highly unlikely

Irrefutable 12-05-2016, 12:07 AM McVay is doing OK for a first time coordinator, who still learning. Today showed he's not ready to be a head coach, tho.
The red zone offense is bad..... no running game (1.2 ypc) .... a first down fade to Desean Jackson vs Peterson ???????
SFREDSKIN 12-05-2016, 12:13 AM Redskins Home (http://m.redskins.com/news/article-1/Without-Big-Plays-Redskins-Defense-Struggles-On-Third-Down/8c5098b3-a60b-46dd-a374-dec4261cfe3c)
mooby 12-05-2016, 01:22 AM McVay is a great coordinator, but until he gets our 6'2 wideout with jump ball skills healthy he needs to eliminate the fade from the playbook. Jesus f he calls that play at the worst times.
As for scapegoats, I'm going with Trent Williams. I know Lauvao sucked ass today but I feel like T.Will's absence puts a lot of pressure on Lauvao and he looks worse when he doesn't have a guy like T.Will covering his ass. Nsekhe holds his own but I feel like these last 4 weeks have put a harsh spotlight on Lauvao and how bad he is, but we don't notice it as much when T.Will is balling out next to him. Honestly I'm just really disappointed in Trent, gd I am a firm believer in the healing powers of weed as compared to Vicodin/etc. but as a team captain he has to know how valuable he is to the team. After Long and Nsekhe went down they teed off on us, and if T.Will had been here I feel like we would've had a better shot at winning. Honestly I'm pretty glad Trent is back next week but I don't trust him as much anymore, you have to be smart on and off the field these days.
metalskins 12-05-2016, 09:53 AM I was so demoralized after this loss. Honestly, I was in a better mood after the loss on Thanksgiving day than I was after this loss. The Redskins really needed this game, because things are so tight in the NFC, that I'm not sure if 10 wins will get you in. I really look at the rest of this season as every game is, without a doubt, a must win game. I don't think 9 wins gets the Redskins in this year, and you can't count on other teams helping you.
Yesterday's game was a big example of how much we need Jordan Reed, a healthy offensive line, and a better defense. That one play our left tackle goes out, and Cousins gets the ball stripped. Vernon Davis has helped us out this year, but when it comes down to needing a playmaker in these late season games, you need Jordan Reed.
TheMalcolmConnection 12-05-2016, 09:55 AM That one bull rush that Campbell did to Lauvao was embarrassing. I also said it a billion times in the game-day thread, but for fuck's sake, the third down defense made the game almost unwatchable. Out of all the bad shit the Skins do, it's when they consistently give up third down, it makes my blood boil. Even when it was third and FOREVER, I was confident they would get it. Defense actually played well the first two downs.
