mooby 01-08-2017, 09:38 PM I can see why he would be hired, he's got the "it" factor and has enjoyed a rapid ascension from TE coach to talented OC in the span of a few years. The article above covers it pretty well too. For me the big question of how successful he would be as a head coach is: Can he set the right tone, or is he going to make players mad that they have to take orders from a coach younger than them? If he commands respect of the entire locker room, there's no reason he can't be successful. Yes clearly he has room for improvement and could use some seasoning, but we only know that because we got a front row view to watch him as a playcaller. They might not necessarily find faults with him like we did. And it only takes one to like him enough.
SFREDSKIN 01-10-2017, 12:54 AM According to a Mike Silver source, McVay crushed both 49ers and Rams interviews, he's likely gone. I would consider Mike McCoy as our mext OC.

Out of all the names I could think of, McCoy wouldn't be the worst. He won't have Peyton at qb like he did his last season with the Broncos, but I remember he worked his magic with Orton/Tebow at qb before then. With our luck we'll end up with the Lions 2008 offensive coordinator though lol.

If Scott leaves, could Bill Callahan just step up and keep things as is? with maybe more creative run plays. He was a head coach and OC in past, and already knows our system. Or just have Gruden do it again, he's a 4th year coach who probably can handle it now..

I'm not sold on Gruden as a coach yet, I think the more responsibilities he can delegate the better. That's my fancy way of saying I don't want him calling plays. He just needs to focus on leading the squad. I ain't saying he's a bad coach just that he needs some more seasoning.
Also that's a side effect I didn't think of, I heart Bill Callahan and hope he never leaves. But that's a reality we might have to deal with if McVay walks.

I read somewhere that they would like to keep inhouse and that either Callahan or Cavanaugh would be considered.
CRedskinsRule 01-10-2017, 10:33 AM No idea if this could happen, but what about Wes being the OC and Wade DC?
Is Wes capable of that type of step?
Would it be enough of a bribe to get Wade here?
Do I need a tinfoil hat to make this happen?

I pick Door Number 3, Monty!
KI Skins Fan 01-10-2017, 10:54 AM Because NFL decision makers are always right? Lol. We hired a defensive coordinator that was part of a 0-16 team over Wade Phillips.
Some things may never be understood by mankind. Perhaps, thousands of years from now, archaeologists will unearth the ruins of Redskins Park and ... etc., etc.

See if Norv would take another crack at it. Sounds crazy, but if we could land him who knows. With the weapons we have maybe we can party like it was 1999!!!
