Correct, but Gus Bradley is part of the club. Worked under Jon Gruden in Tampa from '06 - '08, and left to become Seattle's D coordinator in '09 when Gruden was let go from Tampa.

Gus Bradley was defensive quality control coach for Monte Kiffin in 2006, and then took over coaching the linebackers in 2007 when none other than Joe Barry left to become the coordinator of the Lions.

That period of course overlapped with Jay Gruden's time in Tampa, when he was an offensive assistant.

And then in 2009 when Bradley joined the Seahawks as the defensive coordinator from 2009 - 2012, that period overlapped with Scot McCloughan's tenure in Seattle, when he was a personnel executive there supporting Jon Schneider from 2010 - 2014.

Guaranteed Bradley is the top D coordinator target. Redskins One will be fueled up the moment our season ends.

Hmmmm ... Where have I heard this before? Oh, now I remember:

So, just throwing this out there ...

Anyone else realize that the recently fired Gus Bradley has connections to Jay Gruden, Bruce Allen and Scot McC?

- Bradley was TBay's LB coach from 2006-08 while BA was the GM (2004 - 08) and Gruden an offensive assistant (2002 -08).

- Bradley was Seahawks DC from 2009 - 12 while Scot McC a Senior Personnel Assistant (2010-2013).

In addition, per Twitter sources, Bradley was first hired into the pros by Monte Kiffin as a Quality Control Coach for TBay and was subsequently promoted to LB coach based on Joe Barry's suggestion when JB went to Detroit and, after Barry fired by Detroit and Bradley went to Seattle, Barry was rehired for as TBay's LB coach for the 2009 season.

If Barry doesn't turn it around in the next three games, I can see - and would have no problems with - Bradley being our next DC.

Ha! Great minds.

All I did was look at Jon Gruden's Wikipedia page just to see who were some of the guys he coached with. Little did I know you were a better source!

Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips could soon be free agent (http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/broncos/2016/12/29/wade-phillips-future-free-agent-denver-defensive-coordinator/95978848/)

It's definitely not a bad thing if multiple quality defensive coordinator candidates become available. This is the guy I wanted all along when we got rid of Haslett.

But even if we don't pursue Wade, he might intrigue another team who's looking at a D coordinator, which improves our chances at getting whoever else we target (whether Bradley or Guenther or whoever).

I hope the market gets flooded with good defensive coordinators.

Anyone else feel like they would like Rex Ryan here for Dc... but feel like he's too big a personality or high profile to JUST be a coordinator? Especially with a head coach like Jay who, to me, is kind of on the softer side personality wise?

This one play breakdown shows exactly why Joe Barry has no business being a defensive coordinator. It's all about knowing your personnel and running a scheme/plays to fit those players. Delayed safety blitzes without fast safeties isn't smart.

I think you guys are enjoy fantasies about any new DC coming here. The same thing will happen with Barry as it did with Haslett. Making the playoffs will save his job and he'll get another year(s). Hell, even if we don't make the playoffs, I still think they retain him.

I don't think he will get the job but I kinda hope he will. I don't think we need to become a dominant run team but I'm tired of seeing us shying away from the run in games where we're losing.

They are interviewing him to be the Head Coach? That is laughable. He can't even remember to run the ball or score in the red zone. He is going to be a Head Coach of the whole team? Good luck with that.

Not including above, I want all of the coaches back next year to make 1 more run at it. I think our defense will be much approved next year and I'd like to see Barry have a fighting chance.
