Now that we're getting closer to the end of the regular season, I figured I'd start a thread where we talk about our playoff hunt. First of all as we all know, we are in control of our destiny. Thanks to that half win against Cincinnati, if we win out we are in. Doesnt matter what anyone else does. BUT, if we lose this week it gets really interesting. Especially for the Bucs, if they win and we lose, they would actually take our spot with a half game lead, albeit with a tough upcoming schedule. Meanwhile the Vikings almost scare me more than the Bucs, as they sit at 6-6 with what looks like a fairly easy schedule. Huge that Dallas beat them, but I could still see them finishing with 9 or 10 wins. And if the 5-6 Saints, Packers, or Eagles win + we lose, they would still be alive, just half a game behind us. Point is, we are by no means assured a playoff spot. This Sunday against Arizona is a huge game for us!!

Here are the schedules for our two biggest challengers right now:

6-5 Bucanneers: at Chargers, vs Saints, at Cowboys, at Saints, vs Panthers

6-6 Vikings: at Jaguars, vs Colts, at Packers, vs Bears

And current NFC playoff standings:

1. Cowboys
2. Seahawks
3. Lions
4. Falcons
5. Giants
6. Redskins

Buccaneers
Vikings
Saints
Packers
Eagles
Cardinals
Panthers
Rams
Bears
49ers(eliminated)

So to summarize, anything could happen, lol.

I think we're in a great position to EARN our place into the playoffs but it doesn't look like we'll get in on luck alone.

Vikings remaining schedule seems to be the easiest however they have been struggling as of late.

From here on out, EVERY game is important.

Pretty much lol. Although if we win this Sunday I'll feel great about our chances

Just figured we can have this thread and update weekly where we stand and what needs to happen to get in

if we win tomorrow which we should, we are basically in. The bucs have a tough schedule left and they are the only true scare for us

Lotta football left. One game at a time...cardinals on the road will not be easy.

Loss in Arizona drops Washington's playoff odds dramatically - Washington Times (http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/nov/30/loss-arizona-drops-washingtons-playoff-odds-dramat/)

Sunday will have a huge impact on Washington’s odds of reaching the playoffs. The Upshot’s simulator gives the Redskins a 72-percent chance to make the playoffs if they beat the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona this weekend. If they lose? Trouble. The odds fall to 38 percent. Entering the game, Washington has essentially a 50-50 shot to get in, according to the web site’s calculations.

Now, this was written before the Vikings lost on Thursday, so it may not be quite this dramatic now, but still...

Well what happened today was just about worst case for us. The Bucs' win + our loss moves them into the 6th spot over us. Like I said in the op, they have some tough games coming up(vs Saints, at Cowboys, at Saints, vs Panthers), but they look good right now. Actually depending on how 7-5 Atlanta finishes the season, we may be fighting them for the wild card instead of TB. Some other bad news also as the Packers moved up to 6-6, half a game behind us. At least the Saints and Eagles lost, both teams for all intents and purposes are now out of it

Current NFC playoff standings:

1. Dallas
2. Seattle
3. Detroit
4. Atlanta
5. New York
6. Tampa Bay

Washington
Minnesota
Green Bay
Arizona
New Orleans
Philadelphia
Carolina
Los Angeles
Chicago
San Francisco (eliminated)

If we get to 9-6-1, we make it. Any less than winning 3 of the next 4 and its on to the off season.
