Schneed10 11-01-2016, 08:21 PM And what would be bad about a message like that going out to a guy who is now a repeat offender for the league's substance abuse policy? I realize he's a great player but honestly sometimes its more important about doing the right thing and sending the right message, mainly something like "The Washington Redskins do not condone using illegal drugs of any kind, and while we appreciate Trent's contributions to the team, this type of behavior cannot be tolerated or accepted. We wish Trent well in future endeavors and hope that he gets the help that he needs".
Or do we do the old Snyder / Vinny thing and say, "well, he's our best player, so we have to let him do whatever he wants and make sure he has a roster spot here while paying him handsomely".
I realize i am prone to over-reaction like suggesting we cut Hopkins, but IMO this is ridiculous. We have a moral responsibility as a team, and I thought part of Scott M's philosophy was to have "character guys". A repeat offender on the substance policy is not a "character guy". He's hurt the team with his retarded ass actions. We HAVE to just stop accepting shit like this and mentally saying "oh, we're the redskins, this is just the way it is".

SolidSnake84 11-01-2016, 08:23 PM SS84. SM is a repeat drunk and he got another shot because he is extremely good. That's life's reality and morality lesson. TW has been good to go for 5+ years. I have no idea what happened. Clearly it wasn't a good enough reason for an appeal to win, but lets not act like this guy was Fred Davis. He has laid his body on the line more times than you or I have for the Burgundy and gold and I believe earned a pass( no puffs though). It will come up at contract time and maybe he and the team move on then. But for now use the 4week + bye layoff to heal and come back ready to win.

I understand about SM and being a drunk. But what do you do if God forbid he has a moment (and sometimes recovering alcoholics momentarily fall), and he comes in stumbling drunk at meeting time. Do we just go "Oh, god bless his heart he's trying so hard", and make him sit in the back? Or do you send his ass home? And it sounds like this is SM's last chance, i would think if he crashes again and relapses completley, he's done in the NFL...
I would give TW a pass if this was his first offense. But it isn't. It probably won't be his last, but i hope it is. Regardless of if he's a good guy, or how great of a player he is (and he's great), what he has done or HASNT done (failing to go to the test), his mentality has put this struggling team in a mighty bad way. We don't need that kind of shit here. Someone else a couple of posts up sort of had my sentiments - regardless of what they did on the field, shit like this is inexcusable, especially when it's the second time. Learn his lesson? I don't think he did, sadly...

This news means #Redskins will be without Trent Williams against the #Vikings, #Packers, #Cowboys and #Cardinals.
No sweat guys we've got this covered, Ty Nsehke for the win. [emoji849]
Word is it will probably go down to 2 games but we'll see. Either way it sucks. Can we still win? Yes
Alvin Walton 11-01-2016, 08:25 PM Trent Williams is a gud player.
He's also a pinhead.
Nice job, dipshit......
Maybe someone else can confirm but I'm pretty sure a 2nd positive test would have gotten him bounced for more than just 4 games, so maybe that's the logic behind skipping it instead?
sdskinsfan2001 11-01-2016, 08:30 PM That's some good ass weed, apparently it was worth 1.7 million dollars. Honestly I've been waiting for this day to come, surprised he made it this long. And missing the test altogether is basically just standing up and yelling I smoked weed. Missing the test is the ultimate smoking gun.

Well there is no doubt he skipped on purpose so hopefully it will get reduced but I don't count on it especially since they are so tough on weed
sdskinsfan2001 11-01-2016, 08:34 PM I'd reduce it to a 1 week suspension, he can't practice during the bye lol.
We aren't getting rid of Trent until the league kicks him out. The Skins don't have to pay him while he's out. Have you seen him play? Dude is pretty good. At least we know he'll be healthy in 5 weeks.

Are you for real?
What makes me dumb saying that we don't need to keep a guy who is a repeat substance abuse violator? You're going to say "Because he's such a great player, we can't replace him, blah blah blah". And I will agree with you on the great player part. What is so hard about obeying NFL policies? Hundreds of other players are "great players" without being suspended multiple times for the same violation..
Saying that it's okay to give him a pass because he's great is sending the wrong message, IMO. It is evident to me that looking at some posters here, they would sacrifice morals and decency to get a couple of more wins. But there are teams in the NFL that do not operate like that. Le Garette Blount basically walked out of a game in 2013 or 14 and the Steelers cut him. He was their starting running back. They did not follow your lead and say "Well, he's a great player, we knew he had to blow off some steam", or some BS like that.
I guess in the end, the "moral clauses" that some of these teams have resonate with me because I try and go about doing things the right way, and being a good citizen and all of that stuff, obeying the law, blah blah blah.
Insert comments about me now about how i'm off my medicine or other types of personal and racial crap like some of the other stuff i've had to deal with here. I don't want to leave the site but if thats what you guys want, so be it.
sdskinsfan2001 11-01-2016, 08:41 PM How do players skip tests? It seems like franchises would have bounty hunters to find these dudes the day of the test if needed.
