Is IR the new way that we're shelving/cutting guys who are underperforming (e.g., Kory, Bruton)? I confess not to have any real knowledge of the extent of their injuries, but none seems as severe as what DHall experienced (obviously).

Frankly yes I think so. If a guy has a problem that McCloughan thinks has a chance to linger, he tends to go ahead and get a healthy body instead.

Bruton's case was a concussion. Looked like he got his bell rung pretty good on Sunday. Maybe they learned this week he wasn't getting much better. McC seems to like to get a healthy body in such circumstances.

In addition to Whitner we also signed safety Josh Evans, formerly of Jacksonville, a 6th rounder in 2013. That accounts for the spots vacated by the Reyes release and moving Bruton to IR.

So no room for an addition on DL unless we cut/shelve somebody else.

OK Chico I like you so I hate for you to have to be the one I freak out on, but guys we know the fucking drill, if you're going to say something like this you need to either provide the link or say it's just your guess, or otherwise STFU.

Link or it didn't happen. Don't turn this board to shit.

In my line of business we would say "our data standards are not being currently being met"....shit is getting blurry

I am baffled at this teams' confidence in the DL. We need help up front, and Lanier and Ioannidis are not suddenly gonna become big contributors. Surely there's some Dlineman out there we could sign instead of Evans who could have an impact. It's not like they'd be competing for snaps with a group of All-Pros

We are apparently shifting to a 1-4-6 defense with Baker as the lone DL. Seriously, this is a little baffling to me too, although I can only imagine that is because they have concluded that there's no DL out there better than what we have on the roster, and so we might as well add safety help which we also need/

the bigger problem has been the second level tackling. Its been a major problem and bruton wasn't getting it done.

Reyes was totally expendable with Hood playing essentially his role at a cheaper price.

I would guess Ioannidis may start to get more snaps as he comes along.

Given that Bruton is pretty banged up, I definitely see the need for safety depth. But yeah I am concerned about the goalline package specifically, Golston and Knighton were pretty stout in that area last year but neither are here now. I wasn't a fan of how we folded like a house of cards and Alfred Morris just waltzed into the end zone. It was a bit too easy for Crowell, too.

Maybe the thinking is that with Whitner, we can do a lot more run blitzing. But I share the concern.

True. And maybe McC knows there's a DL problem, but just doesn't see anybody out there who could help. Pot Roast is the obvious one but how do we know he's not 400 pounds right now.

Was reading somewhere that if Pot Roast can just be part of a DT rotation versus strictly NT, they think he could be effective even if he was over-weight. I don't mind this idea if the price was right.
