I'm all for firing Barry right now. He should have never been hired in the first place. This defense is dreadful. To be honest I don't see it getting much better.I'm really jealous the Eagles got Jim Schwartz.

Looking at some F.O. stats tonight, specifically the defensive drive stats:

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2016 DEFENSIVE DRIVE STATS (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/drivestatsdef)

We rank dead last in allowing points per drive.

We rank dead last in forcing punts per drive.

We rank second to last in allowing touchdowns per drive.

Are we not the 31st or 32nd defense in terms of talent, we are just playing that way.

I'm really disappointed in Joe Barry.

The only reason we aren't dead last in pretty much every other category is that we are 9th in forcing turnovers per drive. All turnovers aren't created equally, some are on the D, some are on the O, but it isn't a way to consistently win games and get our defense off the field.

Good thing is the personnel's pretty much there. We "only" lack good coaching. (And I'm not saying fire Barry now... but sure hope he'll be out next year)

Respectfully disagree. We lack talent on defense, but we aren't last in talent either.

I guess the point I was trying to make is Barry doesn't make his unit better than their talent and arguably makes them worse.

Good coaches do more with less. Barry does not.

Imo they made some questionable moves in the off season that hurt the team and also had some bad luck.

Imo Barry is a limited coach but the unit lacks the star personnel to make up for it.

This team is built to play defense with their offense until personnel upgrades come in in the following seasons.

Other then starting Su'a I don't see personnel changes that can make difference

Ryan Kerrigan, Preston Smith, and Trent Murphy make better rushing DEs than OLBs....they should just get away from the 3-4 altogether and element 4-3 principles..... Shanahan is the one who wanted the 3-4.... he's lone gone now...we need to go back to the 4-3.....not just on nickel downs either.

I'd be curious for stats on how we do in the 3-4 versus the 4-3.

I'm solidly on the Fire Joe Barry bandwagon. Isiah Crowell isn't the greatest running back to ever grace the face of the earth, 7 ypc is downright embarrassing. They never had to bounce the runs outside either because the middle was a sieve all day. We will lose every game where we don't get turnovers. I know injuries hit hard but there's no excuse for poor tackling. When wideouts like Andrew Hawkins are breaking tackles like they're Jamal Lewis you know you've got issues.

Bruton misses way too many tackles...he should be benched

The talent on the line, and back to the LBs is no better then mid 20s, and that is the ceiling. It's always weird to have great skill position guys with no rush. Kendall Reyes, Ziggy Hood, Ricky Jean Francois, Golston, how many of those guys even make another squad.
