Three of our defensive starters at the beginning of last season aren't in the NFL right now:

Riley, Knighton, and Hatcher.

I don't know what this means compared to this year but it just struck me as interesting.

I'm not saying I agree with firing Coach Barry but the D's constant downward trend is troubling.

Our run defense is going to get better (only because we are dead last at 32nd):

...and two of our current starters wouldn't be starters anywhere else in the league. (Golston,Hood)

Yes, I know Golston is out, but even if he wasn't, he still wouldn't be a starter anywhere else.

The only way to go is up but that doesn't mean we're going to get better. We could stay at #32 - and we might.

Difference makers on the Dline is a must this offseason...and resigning Chris Baker.

I'm all for firing Barry right now. He should have never been hired in the first place. This defense is dreadful. To be honest I don't see it getting much better.

I'm down to give him one more season, but after that, please don't do the Haslett and let him stay on for years. Marinelli is doing a damn good job in Dallas considering the shit talent they have on defense. They basically have: Sean Lee. Sometimes scheme can overcome lack of talent. I feel like since Haslett was here, it was all, "We lack talent, so once we get it, we'll be better." Now don't get me wrong, we aren't amazing on the defensive side of the ball, but I think we're significantly better than Dallas but are performing way worse in my opinion.

Im gonna watch what happens to Rex in buffalo...I wouldn't mind at least giving him a call if he is fired. He isn't a HC but he can coach some defense. Also I think our coaching staff already has a couple guys on it who could do a better job than barry.

I'd agree. I guess I keep feeling like over the years since Gibbs came back we were always missing a big piece somewhere along the line. I think Gruden actually is a damn good coach and a great offensive coordinator (same with McVay). Now, I feel like we're hamstrung a bit by an unproven defensive coordinator. Again, willing to give him another season, but one could argue we are improved defensively, and it seems we're worse.

Maybe the offense sustains more drives and the defense is better? Who knows? I just didn't think Hatcher/Knighton/Riley were THAT important to us.
