- Only one, apparently minor, injury (Niles Paul).
- All three QB's played well.
- Tress Way was awesome, as usual.
- Players who flashed: Cravens, Spaight, Kelly, Ihenacho, Murphy.
Minus
- The running game was mostly poor.
- Run defense was also mostly poor.
- Special teams kick coverage was mostly poor.
- Short kickoffs hurt us.
- Will we ever find a decent punt and kickoff returner?
- Players who struggled: Dunbar, Ross, Paea.
No major injuries.
On to the next.
Chico23231 08-12-2016, 09:39 AM Heard some radio coming in and the best point was...if the running game struggles with Trent and Luavao, then its a problem. With a back up tackle and long then it not a surprise. The interview...and I think he was with CSN Washington...hinted, when Lauvao is healthy, then Long has no business starting in which I agree 1000 f*ckin percent. Marshall is a rookie RB and he has to learn to hit the hole; this is the NFL son, that shit don't work here.
So glad no injuries, but Niles Paul limping bothers me.
TheMalcolmConnection 08-12-2016, 09:51 AM Thought both first team offense and defense played really well. DBs were FLYING around too. I think our pass defense is going to be much improved. I singled out Reyes just to see what he looked like and honestly I thought he stuffed the run pretty well. Not much of a pass rush, but held his own on the line.
This is obviously just off a few plays, but Cravens might end up being a good one.
Better outing (first string-wise) than we've had in a long time, so color my cautiously optimistic. Most of the negatives were either a single player (Dunbar) getting burned by a single player or third/fourth strings nobodys getting run over in the run game.
Schneed10 08-12-2016, 09:54 AM On the running game, agree with the comments that without Trent and Lauvao it's hard to knock it. Second, on the play where Jones broke a nice run and Moses was called for the hold, what got lost in that play was how well out in front Brandon Scherff was. He got second level there and cleared a big pathway, that's a good sign.
Secondary - I'm impressed. Breeland looked good.
Schneed10 08-12-2016, 09:56 AM Cousins 5 for 5 without Trent and Reed. No deep shots taken and he still moved the ball. I'll take that all day every day.
With Trent in the game the coaches will have confidence to let Cousins sit back there. And if Reed plays the Falcons have no answer.
Excited about first team passing game.
TheMalcolmConnection 08-12-2016, 09:58 AM Have to say that Mack Brown looked the most competent of every back that carried the ball last night. I know it was against third and fourth stringers, but he's the only one who passed the eyeball test for me.

That was no hold, either. Well blocked play.

The hand on the outside part of the shoulder will get you called every time, even if you're not really holding. If he just gets that left hand inside the pad then he doesn't get called and Jones's 15 yarder counts. Easy thing to fix.
Schneed10 08-12-2016, 10:22 AM I thought Will Straight Outta Compton flashed well. Instincts and reactions looked good, made a few good stops. Really, really like him a lot.
I hate Chris Berman but his Chris Berman nickname is obvious and great.
