Superbowl starting to come into focus??!!
Interesting question poise by Tandler, is it legit? I believe it is based on several things:
1) McCloughan - First the first time during the Snyder Regime, we are finally run like a professional football team in every aspect of the franchise.
2) Cousins - Pro Style QB who learned not only Jay's system but also learned how to lead a team into the playoffs. I don't see a step back and even a plateau wouldn't be a team killer.
3) Romo and Manning are in the back end of their careers and the supporting structures within those squads aren't strong enough to carry the load. IE the defense cant carry the offense or the coaching staffs cant out scheme the deficiencies lacking on the team. Philly is in transition and are generally a mess.
The window opening depends on the improving defense and my guess with the addition of Cravens, Norman, Fuller and Gallette we will certainly see an improvement.
Is the window opening, open, or still closed?
Schneed10 05-16-2016, 10:21 AM Oh no. Slow your roll!
Before I think about declaring a window open:
- I think Cousins is the man, but I need to see it one more season. His second half was awesome last year but I need to see it again against the tougher competition we'll face over our 16 this season.
- I need to see our run game get much better, get good enough to take the pressure off the passing game when needed.
- Probably most importantly, I need to see a consistent and disruptive pass rush. I LOVE Junior Galette but I need to see it before I believe it. The offenses you face in the playoffs, in particular the QBs, the only way you beat guys like Aaron Rodgers is to be all over them.
Anytime you make the playoffs, the next year you can say the window is cracked. But that's as far as I'll go for now. If we make the playoffs again this year with Cousins proving himself to be worthy of a big contract, then next year I'll ask Tony K to fire up the Bandwagon.

Truth. Many a one year wonder qb has traveled this league, his credibility (and our team) will take a major step forward if he can do it back to back. I also have questions about our pass rush and defensive line that can't be answered until the season starts, but I believe the single biggest factor is Captain Kirk.
Chico23231 05-16-2016, 11:41 AM Redskins' young talent looks much better than it did a year ago - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/washington-redskins/post/_/id/24997/redskins-under-25-talent-looks-much-better-than-a-year-ago)
Wanted to include this as well...young developing talent is key.
I think I want to believe, but agree need to see another year of Cousins and need to see that defense improve.
I think this is a big year for Joe Barry.

Hard to disagree with this -- look at Foles. The Eagles thought that they had their new QB there, and the guy fell apart. To be clear, I think Kirk is better, works harder, and is a different QB in other material respects. I have every confidence in Kirk and think he can get us back to a SB someday. But we still have a lot of work to do. D-line, S, C, and ILB remain needs.
Another winning season/playoff run and yeah, the window is definitely open.

Yeah Kirk and Foles are on different levels, just based on my eyes. Foles never had me convinced while Cousins looks like the real thing.
My holdup is last years weak schedule and the fact we never beat a team with a winning record. I don't think it was a fluke season exactly but I would say we overachieved. Doubt we take a big enough step forward to be a serious Super Bowl contender this time around. Give it another year and the window will be wide open. Although if Kirk really is legit we should be a playoff contender again

I think we will continue to improve but being in a weak division helped us last year and will continue to help us this year. Just seeing them suck makes our improvements so much more satisfying.

its all about performing within the division...even though our overall schedule is tougher if we can take care of business within our own then it sets us up for success.
30gut 05-16-2016, 04:23 PM The window is opening, we're close. Still have some areas to address from a personnel standpoint.
I have faith that Scott will build a championship contending roster. Maybe 1-2 years away.
