^^ nailed it Joe.
Side note, Mosses and Long fit this description. They are now going to be key pieces in keeping it that way

As I noted in the Josh Norman thread, SM has taken the scattershot approach from previous years and morphed it into a single purpose build model - Build for consistent success with tough talented "football players" and championships will follow. To do so, focus on growing your own to grow the right culture so it passes from locker room to locker room.
As demonstrated by the extensions to Reed, Williams, and Kerrigan, soon enough, we won't need to sign older players who will "help create the right culture" (like we did last year with Knighton & Goldson and in previous years like Ryan Clark & others) b/c the young guys will have the right mindset and the "right culture" will already exist.
As GM, BA (with Shanahan admittedly) found some talented, tough "football players": Reed, T. Williams, Kerrigan, Morris, Paul, Breeland (and possibly Moses, Long, Murphy).
The problem was they weren't necessarily aiming for the mindset or building around it. They just got talented guys who happened to have that mindset.
Scotty McC has a coherent vision for the long term viability of this team as a winner. Conversely, as coach, Gruden should be solely focused on winning next year (not for job-security reasons, but because, as coach, that's where his focus should be).
great insight....well said

Love it.
He has been practicing all off season blocking CBs without holding.
He is going to be great.

Was there ever a contract you liked? Scot don't got to show you no stinkin' details. The deal is done.
One word: Schweet!
Thank you Einstein
How did the Culliver, Hatcher, Roberts, contracts work out ?

I think Hatcher and Roberts were pre-McLovin.
Plus, the Culliver contract was awesome. Tons of potential upside (that didn't work out) and a get out of jail free card for the team.

a little too early for my liking. reed has proved 2 things since he has been in DC.
1. he is a beast( when healthy)
2. he is injury prone
if the skins are going to make cousins "prove" he isnt a fluke, then why not reed?
Reed's ability to produce has never been in question, just his ability to stay on the field which he did last year. Big difference between giving a TE big money and a QB too. His prove it year was last year.

5 concussions in the past 5 years. I think 4 have been documented, 1 highly suspected but not reported.
I love what Reed brings but 22 mil guaranteed is a big investment for his injury history.
There's risk with everyone, it's football folks. If we don't pay him someone else does next year.
