Not really surprised...Kelly was certainly worth the pick. I think Doctson honestly is a better prospect.

Center is a problem, wish he coulda found another one.

Hopefully Long will workout at C.

I'm sure he was pleasantly surprised that Doctson was still there. Not a bad consolation prize.

While I don't doubt that Kelly was a target, and probably McCloughan's prime target, I don't think that means that he necessarily had Kelly as the #1 player on the board overall.

He may have been targeting Kelly because he figured player A, B, and C would be gone by then.

The question is whether he had Kelly or Doctson rated higher on his board overall, and probably more importantly, how far apart were they?

I bet that while Kelly was a target, I bet Doctson and Kelly had almost equal grades on McCloughan's board.

I highly doubt he pounded the table in frustration when Kelly got taken, I think he knows he got a good player.

According to John Keim, the Redskins did not anticipate Josh Doctson falling to them, so it seems reasonable to think that Doctson may have been rated higher than Kelly by the Skins. BTW, Doctson was Mel Kiper's #1 rated wideout.

Well yeah, top target at #21 is where SM had Kelly. There's no way he had him #1 overall.

cooley asked him about it today, he gave a somewhat evasive answer about who he'd take if they were both there, but didn't shy away from saying he liked kelly and had him as a potential target for that pick.
