Predict RGIII's next teamskinsfaninok 02-26-2016, 07:10 PM I'm sticking with Houston Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk Giantone 02-27-2016, 03:12 AM If a trade is done I'll stick with my original guess of Houston or the 49's if it's a flat out release..... the Cowboys or Rams. KI Skins Fan 02-27-2016, 07:40 AM Houston makes the most sense to me. They have absolutely nobody at QB and they need to win now. I believe RGIII would start there and that he would help them more than anyone they could draft. I also think that the Texans' strong defense and the fact that they are located in Texas where RGIII has family and many fans would appeal to him. I'd love to see RGIII revive his NFL career. He's a good man and he deserves another shot as an NFL starter. p.s. It's a 3 hour drive from his hometown of Cpperas Cove, TX to Houston. KI Skins Fan 02-27-2016, 07:57 AM I would say the Rams. Jeff Fisher will have gotten all those picks and still end up with the player who went at the number 2 spot. Fisher can finally say he won something. As far as a trade, its not going to happen. RG3 will say no to any reworking of his contract so he can go to the team he wants, not the team the Redskins want. Plus, if a team is going to give him 5 mil a year (or whatever number) to do a trade, then they will offer that to him as a FA. There is absolutely zero reason for RG3 or his agent to care about reworking his contract for a trade. I don't know, so I'm asking: If he Skins had a deal in place with another team that didn't want to risk losing RGIII to another team in FA, couldn't the Skins exercise his $16.5MM option and then trade him? If so, at that point his $16.5MM guaranteed contract would be the starting point for any negotiations between RGIII and his new team. 81forHOF 02-27-2016, 11:06 AM I don't know, so I'm asking: If he Skins had a deal in place with another team that didn't want to risk losing RGIII to another team in FA, couldn't the Skins exercise his $16.5MM option and then trade him? Yes but they would have to negotiate down because no one would be willing to pay that much for his services. Plus, if no deal happens then we are on the hook for the 16.5mil 81forHOF 02-27-2016, 11:11 AM I think he goes to the Jets and Geno ends up in D.C. (as a backup, of course). If Fitz resigns then they will battle for the starting gig. After last season, I do not see RG going to a team where he waits in the wings (like Dallas). He wants a chance to be on the field. That is why Rams and Browns also make sense. 81forHOF 02-27-2016, 11:13 AM IMO, RG3 for Geno Smith would be a good trade. They both need a fresh start and have possibly matured a little. CRedskinsRule 02-27-2016, 11:50 AM I would say the Rams. Jeff Fisher will have gotten all those picks and still end up with the player who went at the number 2 spot. There is absolutely zero reason for RG3 or his agent to care about reworking his contract for a trade. I kinda disagree on RGIII having no motivation to be part of a trade. But the biggest motivation is non-football and maybe not a factor. DS has been nothing if not loyal to RGIII, and players have often shown loyalty to DS regardless of the coaching/FO mess and it may be that if the Skins deal only with teams he wants to go to, that he may pay back that loyalty by doing a deal within the framework of a trade. So maybe the Skins working with Griffins agent works up competing offers from Houston and SF,for example. If that happened the Skins might get a late pick or a player and RGIII and the other team have a mutually agreed deal in place. DYoungJelly 02-27-2016, 12:52 PM What do you believe RGIII's current FA value is? I don't think anybody really has a good idea. If one team is interested, then his value is whatever the interested team says it is. He hasn't shown anything since late 2012 to demonstrate he is a NFL starter to build around. With the reluctance to overpay for a project QB, I believe he will hit FA and somebody will take a cheap flyer on him. Skinzman 02-27-2016, 01:21 PM I don't know, so I'm asking: If he Skins had a deal in place with another team that didn't want to risk losing RGIII to another team in FA, couldn't the Skins exercise his $16.5MM option and then trade him? If so, at that point his $16.5MM guaranteed contract would be the starting point for any negotiations between RGIII and his new team. His option is already exercised, that was done last year. But it does not become guaranteed money until the start of the new league year (march 9th). Since its not guaranteed, the Redskins can cut him before then without having to pay a cent of that. If the Redskins do a trade, the team will either take RG3 at the 16+ mil option, or renegotiate a new contract with him. However, that needs to take place prior to march 9th. Since it guarantees then, and why would any player or agent renegotiate a guaranteed contract to a much lower price? To me, its fairly simple. No team is going to pay him 16+ mil next year and RG3 will want the option to go to the team of his choosing. I will never say anything is impossible when it comes to professional sports, but I just dont see the RG3 camp as agreeing to any reduced contract right now with a team of the Redskins choosing. |
