ESPN's Ed Werder suggested on SportsCenter Tuesday that the 49ers are free agent Robert Griffin III's best bet as a landing spot.

Werder said he anticipates Chip Kelly having "interest" in Griffin, "depending on what happens with Colin Kaepernick." The 49ers' intentions with Kaepernick are unclear, but he has requested a trade out of San Francisco. Werder also passed along word from at least one NFL coach that believes Griffin is "done," but who does expect him to get signed "based on what he did in 2012."

Yep. I remember your good ol' pal Metalskins mentioning how I felt it made sense for Griffin to be in San Fran, although I was hoping for some weird three team trade deal.

You know, who cares? Im not impressed with Cooley with this type of comment. This act of smearing RG3 as he leaves is kinda no class.

I never hated the guy, and will always remember the 2012 "dream" season. The most exciting season since the last superbowl. That was one hell of a ride.

2012 was great, and RG3 looked impressive as hell, but hindsight being 20/20 I think you can look back now and see that a lot of factors fell into place to make that season what it was. The defense really showed up in the last 7 games. Morris was a beast, our running game was amazing. Kyle designed the offense around RG3's strengths. So yes as a rookie there is no doubt RG3 was great, however without all those other factors falling into place, 2012 would not have been a winning season. So my point is, in 2012 RG3 did his part, but so did everyone else. Hell, Cousins won a game for us. It's a team game. And that's my other point. RG3 didn't seem to get that. I still wish him well but I'm happy that hopefully soon the name RG3 and the name Redskins will no longer be used in the same sentence.

It is great you really love RGIII. RGIII is an available FA snd he will evaluated by teams and media. That is part of the process. The criticism is not about his personal life away from football. It is directly to do with what kind of player and teammate he has been and will be. Not smearing imo.

I generally thought RG3 handled a most uncomfortable demotion with class last year. In fact most dealings with folks outside the locker room was with class. There have been a long list of QBs who didn't get along together within the team, but as long as its kept in-house and professional it doesn't matter.

I don't look back at RG3 tenure and think "locker room cancer"...just don't.

I don't think Mr. Bob was a locker room cancer either. I think he felt the only way to be accepted by everyone was to be the best on the field. But that isn't always what gets you accepted into the family.
